View Full Version : Realism options!

What does everyone think of realism options in Dominions III, the way they have them in simulators such as Silent Hunter III? In Dominions III's case, something like:

Infinite ammunition.
Battle Afflictions.
Fatigue.
Aging.

I consider easily accessible realism options a great addition to any game, not just "realistic" titles, as they allow you to customize your game without having to resort to modding or command line switches.

Sounds nice. It depends on the way the game has been coded whether such changes could be applied in a reasonable amount of time.

Problem is, turning Afflictions, Fatigue or Aging would make some spells non-working. =/

OK, so turning off things like Fatigue disables those spells. Shouldn't be too hard.

But it might give certain nations a disadvantage. One big plus of nature magic is the ability to heal most afflictions. If afflictions were disabled, nature magic would loose much of it's appeal

Isnt fatigue one of the blancing factors in choosing the giants or ulm?

It is, and Sleep uses fatigue damage.

Turning fatigue off would make mages cast the most powerful spells over and over. Thunder strike, Blade Wind, Raise dead with lvl 2 mages and gem requiring spells would be devastating.

Im not sure if its worth another switch or a line in the game config though. It would be interesting as a mod option, or a map command. That way it would still be available as a scenario game

Spell fatique? It can already be modded. The only thing needed is a list of all combat spells and a simple script.

As for age:

ulm.illwinter.com/dom3/dom3progress.html

30th april
* 3 new mod commands for age control.

I don't know anything concerning afflictions, though.
