If Shrapnel wanted they could release a "Collectors Edition" of Dominions_3. The collectors edition could include 3 unique items to lure the true fans.
First a small paper manual providing hints & history otherwise not available.
Second could be a figure of the angel in DOM_3 which is to rival the demonlords. Having a holy symbol in the box should help.
Third and most important is that anyone which purchased a collectors edition could attend a private online 1_hour chat with the Illwinter developers. This chat would be setup where the developers would choose to only answer the questions they wish. All questions would have to be PM to someone which sorts and passes the civilized questions to Illwinter.
With Dominions_3 'shattering' pre-order records perhaps Shrapnel should consider making a collectors edition.
Any ideas of what the collectors edition could include besides the items I've listed ?
Polls on this website are still not working !

Actually most of a special set could be offered by any of us I think. How about a CD full of mods, and maps, and all of the units as icons, and the tutorial game, tutorial map example, tutorial mod, some started games, some pre-made gods, a manual. Plus you can throw in a nice tshirt, mug, and a bumpersticker.

Did you ever mention to Richard about the polls not working?

Actually all of the stuff I listed could not be offered by just any of us. I listed the hints and history manual as paper not some pdf. Also only Illwinter knows what the new super angel is going to be so not anyone could find an exact matching angel figurine. And the personal online chat with Illwinter developers... I'm sure only Shrapnel and Illwinter could organize this.
Any of the software ideas you listed such as mods, maps, unit icons, and premade gods would eventually be found online available for download. I figure Shrapnel would want to orangize a package of treasures which cannot later be found available for download. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Any tangible items would have to fit inside the gamebox otherwise the shipping cost increases... so the mug is probably out.

They could include their oldie games which i unfortunately do not have.
So Conquest of Elysium 2 and Dominions 1 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.
And though at Illwinter's homepage there is nothing about Conquest of Elyisum 1 if Illwinter made Conquest of Elyisum 1 too then they have to include it also http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

I have Dom:PPP, but I'd like to get full version of CoE2. However, as I said earlier, I don't want any extra paper things/items/mousepads, so I wouldn't pay for them only.
I doubt private one-hour chat is a good choice. Who knows how many Collectors' Editions would be sold? More interviews would be very nice, and all would be able to read them.

I don't care about childish gadgets in Dom3, I let that to mass-market. Maybe giving CoE2 or Dom:PPP along can be a good move though.
I think both are still sold, but certainly in ridiculously low numbers.

I'd love to get CoE 2, I tried the demo and I kinda liked it but it didn't pass my threshold for wanting to buy it...

That's a rather contradictory sentence, looks real Finnish http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

How about have KO, JK, etc. sign the manual? Although maybe thats just a reason to go to origins (or other con with illwinter near to wherever you might be)
