All eras playable, even if it is just 3 nations per era or something.

A longer turn limit on the demo. I had to restart several times on the DOM_2 demo because of the 40_turn limit.

Ideally the demo only needs to limit the amount of research levels and nations available.

But isn't a demo that makes you restart many times because you want to play more very, VERY good for business?

Well instead of it taking two games to determine I will buy the game it took 5 half games... less satisfying.

A turn limit within a demo does not make someone want to play a game more. The content and quality of the game is what lures gamers to play more.

Dom:PPP had demo with unlimited turns. That was enough for some people who never bothered buying the game.

Demo has to make people want to noy only play a game, but also to buy it.

A turn limit is fine, but it should be extended beyond 40 turns. Each new gamer playing the demo will need a specific amount of time before they decide whether or not the game is worthy of purchasing. A turn time limit of 40_turns makes them play several half games which is unsatisfying compared to playing 2 games which have limited content and game options.

When I'm searching for demos online at adrenaline vault or other game websites I usually avoid the demos with any time/turn limits.

I agree the Doms 3. demo should have at least a 60 turns limit.

I did alot better at recommending Dom1 with the demo that allowed for full multiplayer games, but capped on research and units. Im hoping that the Dom2 demo was a test. Maybe it wasnt any more helpful than the Dom1 demo was, and we can go back to that

For what it is worth, getting hooked on the Dom1 demo is what got me to buy Dom2. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Double the turn limit from the Dom2 demo, that should be good enough to finish a mid sized map game, and if research and some units are off limits, it'll be incentive to people to buy the game.

I would like 60 turns minimum. I have personally never topped ~70 - 80 turns on the Dom:PPP demo. And, for what its worth, I had almost forgotten Dom II until I found the Dom I demo, and done multiplayer w/ my friend.

Well it would be nice if it was enough to be able to actually play a game. But in fairness it cant be enough to happily live with the demo and not buy the game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I like the cap on the Dominions 1 demo. No turn limits but each nation lost 2 of its best units, and there was a cap of research to lvl 6? (I think I remember that right) But otherwise you could finish a full game with multiple players.

They could also limit the demo to only playing certain races. Such as Ulm and Arcosphales in each era.

The DomPPP research cap was at lv 4 and there were more than just two units missing. I think all upgraded units were disabled, e.g. Ulm only had their regular infantry, no black plate units at all.
