I am getting tons of free units.
Will I ever get commanders? After 8 turns I have not gotten any.
Also, I am playing with an immortal pretender that has 2 afflictions. If it dies will it ressurect w/o afflictions?

Yes, but you can only get good commanders by summoning them with death magic. AE must have a high Death pretender. Oh, and I guess you get big guys with axes at the capitol sometimes, with high dominion.

Dying may make things worse, due to extra afflictions gained while being killed. Immortals lose afflictions over time.

Actually, you get big guys with axes (lictors) at any castle, if I'm not mistaken. Which I probably am. At any rate, the biggest draw of castles in SP is probably the Knights of the Unholy Sepulchre. They're pretty pitiful at base stats, but Ermor can usually afford obscene levels of magic on its pretender, meaning you get some truly devsatating bless combinations on these utterly expendable troops. You'll still need to summon a bishop or something to bless 'em, though; none of your autosummoned commanders are unholy. Bishops earn their keep pretty well reanimating even more troops for you, though... unless the combination of reanimation and autosummoning is still bugged. Haven't played Ermor in a while, so I wouldn't know.

I'm not sure that anybody has ever reported any kind of bug with reanimating troops. I do know that some people have not realized that their troops were automatically being distributed amongst the local commanders.
