Yes, just like there has always been.

If an off map battery is idle and it has equal or longer range than the firing enemy off-map battery and a skill roll is passed (based on the nation (and decade, for MBT) and firing battery experience) and it has 5(?) or more rounds of ammo, it may fire counterbattery at that enemy off-map battery.

ive been playing long campaign as the british and versus the germans my off map counter fires fine, versus the italians though its only happened twice in total of all salvos they have fired, are the italian batteries extra sneaky?

Do most of the Italian batteries outrange your counterbatteries?. The 149mm btys may well outrange 25pdrs.

i have 2 regiments of 7.2", he uses 10.5s and 149s

The 7.2 has a "211" range and the 149's ( actually there are three "149's but in this case I'm looking at the 149 L35 and L40 ) and the Italian 105 --( the Obice da 105L25 ) have ratings of 213, 215 and 212 so all those guns outrange the 7.2. There are other Italian 105's that do not outrange the 7.2 ( most in fact ) and those may have been the ones that were targeted those couple of times

It's tricky setting up off map gun ranges as they are abstractions
