How do you judge whether the colony is headed toward success or failure? I've had colonies "fail" despite an apparently humming economy with multiple players joining the High Score table.
Is there any other level of success besides "moderate"?

The overall success of the colony is based on the total score of all four players. It breaks down like this:
Less than 75,000 = "THE COLONY WAS A FAILURE. YOU WILL SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIVES LIVING IN TENTS."
75,000 = "THE COLONY WAS A MODERATE SUCCESS. LIFE WILL BE A STRUGGLE."
100,000 = "THE COLONY WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL. YOU WILL ENJOY LIFE IN YOUR NICE HOMES."
125,000 = "THE COLONY WAS A SMASHING SUCCESS. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO WORK AGAIN."

Thanks. That's far simpler than I was theorizing; I suspected it had something to do with total food and power production and warehouse stockpiles.
