Has anything changed from DOM_2 and DOM_3 regarding the battle turns ?

Is it still auto-retreat after 50-turns? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif Any chance players can adjust the number of battle turns before auto-retreat? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Are attacking units still instantly killed when unable to flee the battle field after X amount of turns? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/skull.gif Hopefully this has changed to instant retreating.

Whatever Illwinter has decided for this topic I will accept... just wondering.

IIRC the mechanics remain for the end limit on battles, but the morale system has been reworked. I'm not sure how this will affect long battles.

Why do you dislike that units auto-die when they cant rout?

He probably hates losing his SC when he forgets to change retreat orders. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Also there was that was that one battle where a trampling, phoenix pyred Freak Lord did absolutely nothing to a pair of ice devils... then died from the turn limit. Dangers of battle, I say!

Thanks for the information

Units instantly receive death when unable to rout yet auto-retreating seems more logical. If the best enemy army in a province could not kill the unit(s) after a long battle then technically the unit(s) are still alive thus an auto-retreat. A long battle which has a stalemate shouldn't result in death purely because of time, but instead a rematch for another day.

The way I see it, Auto-killed means the unit was left on the battlefield alone, the army it was part of left it there to die without supplies.

Which seems kind of silly when the unit was attacking solo.

thejeff... thanks for making a good point.

Many units don't need supplies, such as undead, devils, elemental royals and so on and so on. As I wrote earlier: A long battle which has a stalemate shouldn't result in death purely because of time, but instead a rematch for another day.
