View Full Version : Will AI now take defeated Pretender's provinces?

One of the huge advantages that a human has over the AI (at least in Dom2 single player) is that when a nation has been defeated due to dominion loss all of it's provinces turn independent and are left completely undefended. As a human, I can absorb them into my domain with a single commander, but the other AI's will never take them. Has this been addressed in Dom3?
I am hoping that either they will now see the empty independent province as a juicy target, or that the indy recruitables of the province will take up the defense and reset the province as a valid target in the eyes of the remaining opponents.

Let me tell you from my latest SP game:
Mictlan managed to kill itself off very early. Must have been the combination of dormant pretender, relativly low starting dominion and some really bad luck in combat (losts its prophet when taking the 1st indy province), and maybe even the loss of the starting temple from random event (Yes, this could happen to a player with a 'risky' setup as well http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif ).
I didn't border Mictlan directly - there was a 'untakeable' indie between us right next to my starting province, and some impassable mountain borders, and 3 more indies. But when I sneaked an amphibious force along the cost to take the undefended provinces, neighbouring Pangaea immediately declared war on me. Most interesting: it was still 1 indy province away from bordering me directly, and took that province on the next turn, and send some forces into Mictlan territory. I barely managed to reach Mictlans home province before Pan did, and now I'm in deep trouble to fight him off.

Thank you for the great news Arralen! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
The improvements to the AI are one of the things that I have most been looking forward to. I play some multiplayer when I can, but the single player game is where I spend most of my time.

Eh, you sounds like my brother. He is mainly playing SP games, but just because we never play PBEM [and he also dislikes PBEM just like me], and he doesnt have time to play TCP/IP with us.
