...are you anticipating most? I figure this'll be a fun way to drum up additional enthusiasm, exchange information, and maybe get additional feedback from the playtesters.
For my part, I'm really looking forward to R'yleh LA - Dreamlands. Insanity-spreading dominion? Oh yes. My first game will almost certainly feature R'lyeh. Interestingly enough, LA Atlantis is also really intriguing, given its blood cult/Inuit feel as I understand it. I guess I just like ocean nations in decline.
I'm also, of course, curious to see how the new balance feels. With increased gold/supply, slower magic research, and the tweaking of former strategies (SCs and clam hoarding seem to be the ones people mention most), I'm really curious to see what the initial favored strategies in MP among each Age tend to be.
And you?

Late Era Atlantis. Umordang, that nation looks wicked cool.
Early Agarta too, just to foo' around with the Olm and the one-eyed gilled ogres.
The Aboloths also, because they look so cuuuuute. <3 >:3

Actually, I'm anticipating the demo most. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

*chuckle* Why? All indications are the demo'll be out after the game itself. Why anticipate the appetizer when the entree'll be served first?

'cause the game is already makred as backordered in Gamer's Front, and even if I get to order it I doubt I'll be getting it before the demo.

I think it's marked as "backordered" incorrectly, truth be told. I bought on or around the day pre-orders became available and my order's listed as "backordered" as well. I'm pretty certain that all pre-orders are listed as such right now. I strongly doubt that the initial print run is so small that they're already back-ordered; if it were, given that it went to gold so recently, I'd imagine they'd just up the print count.
*shrug* I'd advise just ordering.

Well I'd order if I could, but I'm stuck with my Visa Electron. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

This has gone a little off-topic, but I think that when they went pre-order, Annette or Mindi said that the status would be "back-order" until it was actually released.
Therefore the "back-order" should read "hasn't been made but will be sent as soon as it exists".
I've been looking for the post, but can't find it...

Definitely aboleths. Since they're early era they must have crazy water and astral powers. And mind control!

Well, I will definitely inspect all new nations and themes, however I guess that my favourite nations will be Ermor, Ulm and Abysia still. The new japan based nation looks very interesting anyways. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

Kailasa, stick tossing monkeys aside, looks pretty interesting too.

I like the 'y'. You know, this 'y':
* Pressing 'y' allows you to set battle orders for commanders moving to the current province.

Improved UI is definitely my favorite, even though I know naught about most of it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Simply put, I'm excited about learning to play a new game. With the economic and magic changes, I hope it will play very differently but feel familiar. I'm hoping the result will be that people can use the knowledge they gathered from DomII, but will be forced to alter their overall strategies from scratch, even when playing nations they're familiar with.

Richly appropriate for the theme, and it's probably one of the strangest game mechanics ever made. :p

Of course Ive been waiting a long time for another map generator to play with. I will eventually be updating my scenarios and programs for generating games to use the new maps and features.

Auto-site-searching is going to make playing alot more fun. I don't demand perfect performance, but it gets old after a while.

Only the re-targeting of (monthly) site-searching spells is automatic. Mages can't be ordered to wander around and site-search provinces.

Do the mages have criteria for choosing targets for the search spells (I.e. search provinces with high chance first, avoid provinces where some searching has already been done)?

They definetly dont search again where its been searched. Im not sure if they prioritize or not.
