and plays great, except for the lack of included maps. Wasn't there a picture of a playable Middle Earth?

You can use nearly all maps from Dom2 as well. No need to change anything in them.

You can't distribute a Middle Earth map with a commercial product without paying heavy royalties.

Search the Dom2 forum for the map .. must be available somewhere (though I cannot find it atm as well).

Yep, just copy the maps folder over even.

It's painful waiting on my copy. I live two states away and yet my copy that shipped on Friday didn't arrive today. I kept asking the mailroom, "Are you SURE I don't have a package?"

I'm pretty sure they hate me.

The game comes with a random map generator... that should provide plenty of new maps.

What if some mailman who's a Dominions_2 fan found your package and had the package accidently lost during his route.

Like ... Elf Porn! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif ( Anyone else remember a published story with a stoned elf wandering around a dragon's lair with a dog eared copy of Play Elf? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif )

Considering all the naked pretenders in the game it sure has a reason to come in a discreet brown wrapper... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I was walking home in the rain when I saw a soggy FedEx envelope sitting in the gutter. After making my way upstairs, accidentally letting the landlord's dog escape, I opened it, revealing a nicely spiral-bound manual about twice the thickness I expected. Thanks for the shrink-wrap job! I promptly began a game on the tutorial map and got trounced by Ermor (non-death theme version, no less!)

It sucks being at work right now.
