Sorry if I got you excited.
I just want to say right now that I am going to do my part for the happiness of this great community. Since I have no bandwidth limits I plan to offer the demos on my servers just as soon as I can get them. Dom3Minions.com and Dom2Minions.com will have the windows, mac, linux versions of the Dom3 demo.

When I push the demo (and I will) in the usenet groups, I will link to my servers for as long as I can stand it.

This thread, my dear sir, was an evil idea :p Caused me in vain to jump in joy ("DEMO!!!!!!!!111!!!!!") after the sorrow of finding out the gamed didn't arrive today... You could have waited until either
a) *My* preorder has arrived
b) The demo actually is available

I will let you know when the game arrives here (hoping for tomorrow http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif), after that you can cause extra heartbeats with thread like this as much as you like http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

The downloads will probably be slow as hell just like SE5. When the demos out and a torrent is made for it if someone links it to the site i be most grateful.

Thanks for it Gandalf. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
How come that you don't have bandwidth limits btw? I am limited at 24 Mbit, but this is a DSL connection.
Anyways this 24 Mbit is enough for everything to be honest. My top downloading speed was around 3.4 Mbyte/second from a local server.

Well lets say that Ive never hit it. And I have no extra charges for hitting a bandwidth ceiling like many people do.

Its a fat DSL (Im not allowed to give specs). But Im so close to the pop that I could go to a T1 if I wanted to.

I run 2 servers. They have about a dozen domains, many Dom games, a MUD world, and about 100 users. Of course also their email, personal web pages, ftp, irc, etc. The main server is Debian Linux. The secondary is older debian but we are considering switching it to SuSe.

Ah I see. It's very nice that you host so many different stuff. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
Btw I never thought that MUDs are still popular. I've never tried to play one myself, but afaik the first MUDs were created a long time ago.
Hm...however this is true about the roguelike games also, and there are lot of roguelike fans still. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Yeah its the same thing. Basically its IRC in a game world. Open text based, fast moving, easy to socialize, and easy to modify so it doesnt get old.

And the MUDs are still popular amongst people who prefer the imagination of books, vice pablum like TV. Not that some people would understand books vice graphics http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

The same is true about Dwarf Fortress for example. Since it is using ASCII gfx, the game world is up to your imagination that how is it looking like. Combine imaginations with incredible good gameplay, and it can be endless fun. That is Dwarf Fortress! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Just wanted to let the Shrapnel folks know they can add a mirror to the list (http://www.shrapnelgames.com/Illwinter/Dom3/6.htm)

FileShack Link (http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/9575/Dominions+3:+The+Awakening+Demo)

Im thrilled. I thought I was going to be the only mirror. With so many already there I dont think I will rush it. It doesnt do any good for me to lag one of them now just to get the 3 demos so I can mirror them. I guess I should hold off of the initial rush unless someone says things are bogging down?
