So, Dominions III is officially good [censored]. Great singe player experience now. Love the manual.
Im playing a game as middle era mictlan, and I have a 9E9D9N bless effect. I summoned some sacred monster toads, and when blessed they do not receive the 4 protection, though they get all the other effects. Whats up with that? It makes me sad.
I attached the game file, just for kicks. You can see among the messages a battle taking place in winter peaks. Viewing that battle, you will observe 5 monsters toads. At the start of the battle, they have 6 protection. After being blessed, they still have 6 protection. For comparison, you can see the pegasus riders go from 7 to 11.

The +4 prot only applies to armor, not natural protection, very much like the additional prot from the spell "Legion of Steel".
At least in the later case it's intended behaviour (check the spells descption), and on the bless we're still waiting for a statement from the devs. If its intended there as well, its very much debatable, I agree.

Not a bug but a feature:
The +protection effect from the earth bless only affects troops that have armor.
The toads have no armor, so they get no extra protection.
Cool that you bought Dom3 btw. Willing to become a blitzplayer too? Imho Dom3 is even more designed for blitzes as the ultimative mp modus to play Dominions than Dom2 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

Ja.
And it is a "conceptual bug", which doesn't need to be fixed in PC software, but overworked swedish brainware http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Interesting, I was thinking that +4 prot would increase the natural protection and thus be useless for heavy armored units. Looks like quite the opposite. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Ja! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
The bless effect merges the armour with the skin in an itchy way that makes soldiers scratch themselves so that they get blisters that hardens into stone and thus heightens the protection of said unit.
And seriously: I don't percieve any big difference thematically. Transformed skin or blessed armors. Flaming weapons affects the equipment, so the earth blessing might as well do the same. If you weant a more thorough explanation you'll have to ask JK since he is the brainware behind this naughty change http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

If this worked the same way as flaming weapons, then it should also work on unarmored units just as flaming weapon affects non-weapon attacks. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Didn't I say that - oh, did not, at least here ... yes, "Flaming Weapons" works on Claws, Fangs, SpiderBites, etc. ...
And strictly gameplay-wise:
There are some nations which have blessable, summoned units without armor which could use exactly this bless very well.
Would add another viable option to pretender design, which would be a good thing (TR), wouldn't it?
