View Full Version : Dom3 in Germany

After a long time, I'm back to Dominions. Just in time for Dom3, I see.

Currently, I'm downloading the demo as I can't wait to test it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

The question now is: Where in Germany to get it? The only shop I've found so far is IxSoft, for 49 Euros. (I understand and support Illwinter, especially given the cross-platform nature of Dominions, so no complaints, but still... a hefty pricetag)

Larger shops like Okaysoft don't have any Dominions (2 or 3) for sale. Do any of the German (Austrian, Swiss) players here know of any other, possibly cheaper, offer?

PS: I just found out I can't play Ulm in the demo. That city is 10 km south of here, I demand a special version of the demo. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I would, if they accepted Euros, and payment by invoice or bank transfer. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

It's not that I can't get it, I'm just looking for alternatives. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I ordered Dominoins 1 + 2 from Tuxgames (in England), sending US-Dollars in a normal letter. It was at my own risk, but it worked.
Now, i have a credit card :->

Ixsoft has Dominions listed for 50€ no shipping costs. It's the cheapest offer i found for germany. You still have to be 18 of course (since it's an import game) though i guess that's not a problem for the majority of Dom players. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif (call me age biased if you wish :p)
They list it as coming "start of october" and i did not yet recieve an email that my copy is on its way, but i hop they'll be able to start delivery next week or so.

edit:Maybe someone from Shrapnel will be able to enlighten me about when the deliveries for european distributors will arrive?

Isn't 49 Euros approximately 64$ US? That's not much different than an order from us with international shipping.

Ixsoft is the only company in Germany that I am aware of selling Dominions 3. We don't offer hefty reseller discounts, and our international resellers don't have much room for profit when taxes and shipping are factored in. Companies like Ixsoft have expressed a desire to carry the game out of their admiration for Illwinter and as a service in their country for customers who are unable or unwilling to purchase from the US.

Reseller orders are shipping in order right along with individual orders. I'm not sure of the exact date, but I do know the initial order from Ixsoft has already shipped.

Actually, i didn't look that much into ordering it from overseas since in my experience shipping costs are pretty hefty and 50€ is standard price for a game here anyway. (For console games i often have to fork over 70€, which means i buy maybe 3-4 games a year)

That's nice to hear. Europe tends to get the short end of the stick when it comes to games all the time anyway, it's about time someone helped that a bit.

Then i guess i'll get my copy early next week. Hope i'll make it through the weekend. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/Injured.gif

I think it has more to do with the game running under Linux, as they (IxSoft) focus on Linux software.

Well if the profits are as tight as Annette described i don't know if running on Linux changes the outlook much. Usually even Linux software has to make a decent profit to be sold. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
