Hello folks!
I'm a long time forum lurker. =)
Been playin dom 2 and now I want to get my hands on dom 3. Since I'm living in Sweden I was thinking of maybe ordering from Tuxgames. But they seem a bit dodgy to me so I figured I ask if anyone else has ordered from them and if so how long did it take to arrive?
Also, Illwinter, you guys are the mad [censored]! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Annette just said a few days ago, that Tuxgames don't have Doms 3. copies atm, since they haven't ordered them yet from Shrapnel.
Tuxgames is a bit weird, I wrote an email to them like 3 days ago, asking that they have Doms 3 copies already or not [since some of my mates here wanted to order the game after they've seen the demo], but no reply since then!
So now these lads have ordered the game today directly from Shrapnel.

TuxGames have to order their copies of Dominions from Shrapnel, same as everyone else, and as of a couple of days ago they'd apparently still not placed any orders. At the moment, at least, you're probably better off buying directly from Shrapnel.

I also have ordered on their site, and send an e-mail without response since several days.
However I notice that their site has been updated this morning and now Dom3 is supposed to be "in stock" (previously it was still listed as "coming soon")
With luck this means that they probably ordered the game just after Annette said they didn't have (yet), and if so they should probably start shipping soon.
Hope is a wonderful thing , ... ^_^
I will post an update should I get any more information fro them (or if (when ?) I finally get the game from them)

I think they dont have a desire to gamble on pre-ordering copies. They list it and wait to see how much interest there is. They cant really afford to get stuck with junk inventory.

Thanks for the quick replies.
What you say seem reasonable Gandalf and Jack please do let me know if they contact or if/when you get the game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

This is making no sense. I can't understand this situation. How is that possible that the people who are running site -which was made to sell games online- just won't reply to e-mails. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Tuxgames always struck me as more of a labour of love than a business; more of a service to the community than an attempt at make money. Nobody in their right mind would expect to make money out of selling games for Linux, after all.

Agreed. Its more like a dedicated fan site than a corporation.
And, its a very needed site.

Tuxgames has carried every game in the Dominions series; they are great fans of Illwinter. We've worked with them for three years now, and I've never had a single complaint from a customer. A shipment is enroute to them, and I think you'll find them to be a very reliable store.

Oh, in my experience TuxGame is always reliable. I've had nothing but good experiences with them in the past.

Thats ok Annette, and its nice. However, when more people are writing emails, asking that do they have dominions 3 in stock already, or if not then when will it be available...perhaps they should reply. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
So basically they are making no profit with selling Dominions 3. for example? Because if they do, they should care about these emails if you ask me, hence everyone will order their copies directly from Shrapnel if a situation like this happens. Just to confirm, the version of Dom3 that Tuxgames sells includes the Windows version as well as the Linux one, right?
Leif_-
October 8th, 2006, 11:16 AM
Yes, there's only one version of Dominions 3 produced; which contains binaries for all three systems (windows, mac and linux.)
Gandalf Parker

And you can install on multiple machines (altho they cant play multiple people). AND the host mode doesnt lock out its own serial. So if you install on a linux and a windows machine, then one can act as host while the other can be a player in the same game. Way cool.

Hehe! I just got an email from Tuxgames. They answered my questions. Sadly it was a late reply since my mates ordered directly from Shrapnel meanwhile. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Do you know if they started shipping ?

Fwiw, they responded to me pretty fast (within hours) when I emailed to cancel my order. They said they'd got stock that day and some shipping had taken place at lunchtime (this was about 5pm uk time, Friday 6th Oct).

I've deleted the letter already, but it was a short reply.
They said that we can order the copies from them anytime now. However, I still don't know that they have any Doms 3. copies in stock or not, since they forgot to mention that.

Thanks for the info.
My e-mail was less specific, as I was asking eitheir for more information on the vailability of dom3, or to cancel my order if they couldn't have it before a certain date (it's a birthday present).
With no response, and dom3 now listed as "in stock", I suppose (I hope) that it means that the game has been sent (or will be soon) and should arrive in time.

They are out of stock. I got an email from them saturday saying that they had an order in transit, and that they would process all pending orders once they got it.
So hopefully they should get the games in a few days, add 1-3 days for order + shipping from UK to the rest of Europe and we should get the game by next week (I hope), or maybe (if blessed by the mighty ... "Me" (hey, this is dominions !) ^_^ ) by the end of this week.

Is their transport late or what ? It was supposed to arrive at 10 october. It's 18th, and still 'sold out'.
How can Tux Games wait for their transport ?

I think that their website is not updated daily, so they might have since received their stock, .. or not.
(arghhh, curse my "refresh-every-minute" syndrom, I just keep being depressed each time without update ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif)
The only think I know is that saturday 14th they were still expecting their shipment.

Today is october 19th and still no update on tuxgames website, I'm starting to really worry. Not that I expect my game to never ship, but as it is going I fear I will have it at best for christmas ...
Has anybody here already received dom3 after an order from tuxgames ? (I mean, whithout canceling and ordering from shrapnel)
I know tuxgames is a small structure and all, but the delay start to really get on my nerves.

That would make two of us... and probably a lot more http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif. Too bad I couldn't order directly from Shrapnel, 'cause the customs would add around 10€ to the price tag, and be a lot of unnecessary trouble besides.

For people who ordered from Tux Games before: how long did you have to wait ?
I paid for the game on 17th october, and it wasn't in stock at the moment. It said 'sold out. stock expected to arrive on 10th october'.
Now it's 24th, my money's gone, and they still don't have the game. Did it happen before ? How much more I may have to wait ?

I ordered september 29th, and I am still waiting for my order from tuxgames http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/fear.gif
Last news I got from them was october 14th and they were expecting their shipment in a matter of days.
I wonder what's taking so long, and why they didn't at least update the date on their website if they still don't have any in stock.
@Teraswaerto : any answer to your e-mail since ?

I sent them an e-mail yesterday, by the way (ordered the game on October 8th or so). No reply yet, obviously (but then again that would be fast), but we'll see.

From their website :
"On the 25th and 26th of October, Tux Games will be at UK Linux Expo ..."
I fear that if games are not shipped today, they won't be until after Linux Expo, meaning 2 more days of waiting and mad refresh, aaargh ... !!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif

For those still waiting for tuxgames, check the CIV4 mod "Fall from Heaven 2"
It's a TC fantasy mod (Total Conversion = almost a different game) with a lot of work already done.
Don't be afraid by the low version number (currently 0.16c), in fact 0.16 is supposed to be the last version of the core game (what would be 1.0 in other games). Future versions numbers will be for the mod next steps (think of them as "expensions"), the current state is stable and feature-rich (magic, dragons, alignment, religions whose choice has a lot of effect ingame, unique heroes, nations with lots of flavor (not as much as dom, but ...) , etc ...)

@Teraswaerto : what status is currently your order and when did you make your order ?
Mine has been in "card validated" since the first day (I checked to allow them to process the payment immediatly).

There wasn't even a "sorry for the delay" card, so you can bet I won't be using Tuxgames ever again.
