Just observed interesting behaviour. Armies engage in melee. My mage can cast flying shard, fire files and priest spells. He starts casting mildly useful priest spells, continues with fanaticism and other priest spells. The enemy group breaks and flees separating from the melee. The mage immediately casts fire flies on fleeing squad.

Looks like pretty sensible behaviour to me!

Hm, i guess my mage just didn't like troglodytes then.
Or does the Demo have limited AI as well?
(dammit, i want my copy NOW!)

lol
I still see the occasional stray wave of blades sweeping across my front line from friendly mages, but not as often as I used to. Seems to happen mostly when the enemy and my front line have joined in battle and there are no other suitable large groupings of enemies nearby. Also, tramplers tend to disperse and mingle with these groups making it more likely that they will get nailed.

Just wait until you see the AI sending the first cavalry group scripted to Attack Rear annihilate your mages. AI has been improved in many ways.

I have proudly experienced that early on. Now I am careful to keep a line of chaff between my flanking mages and those nasty horses. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Priest-mages with Holy 3 seem to have hard to deciding what is the best spell though. They use Flying Shards when they could cast smite... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/Sick.gif

Flying Shards isn't pretty. It's annoyingly good spell. It HURTS and KILLS. Depends on the opposition, of course, but Kailasa suffers from it. I should now, I've played Kailasa.

I'm talking about flying shards vs Heavy Cavalry. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/Sick.gif
