View Full Version : Demo Bug!

I have attempted to download the demo from every mirror out there. Unfortunately, for some reason, the demo won't install!! Every time I try to install it, it is caught by Windows and a screen specifies:

********************************
NSIS Error
Installer Verification Failed.

This could be a result of an incomplete download, a failing disk, or (possibly) corruption from a virus.

You can try to force an install using the /NCRC command line switch (but it is NOT recommended)
********************************

I have defragged, ran chkdsk, and even tried to re-download using different mirrors multiple times. Has anyone else had this problem recently? Or is it just me? I am hoping it isn't just me as that would mean there is something wrong with Windows (which is always a peach to fix...:P). I do not know how to use the NCRC switch, not that I would really feel safe if I did anyway. I have also ran every Anti-Malware utility I own all with up to date definitions. wtf?

I run a Dual-Core AMD system (I upgraded the processor within the last week) with 4GB of RAM and a 256MB GeForce 7600. I well exceed the minimum requirements....but is there a problem between the installer program and my recently installed Dual-Core processor?

dominions3demo_installer.exe
File size 99.118.980 Bytes
MD5 checksum 6B89DB30D77A4160CA4E8B1D1B0C30DF

If the file is ok, there really might be a problem with running the installer on a dual-core system .. will ask around if anyone of the beta-tester has a dual-core system.

Anything new? I don't see any other bug reports like this, so I am starting to think the game isn't compatible with Dual Cores....am I the only one with a Dual Core system? O_o

Try to redownload it, it's probably been corrupted somehow. I have tried dominions on a core 2 duo without any trouble.

Also listen to Arralen and check your file with md5sum. If it isn't the same then the download was no good.

I'm running a dual core AMD 4200X AM2_Socket CPU with Dominions3 and it runs without any problems. It generates super large maps really fast too.

Have you tried clean booting your system before starting. Usually disabling anti-virus services helps too.

Well that is interesting. For the record: You need to download the demo from IE, not Firefox....(at least, that is what worked for me).

I downloaded the demo using Firefox with no problems. It is almost certainly what Arralen said: your first download was simply corrupted. Re-downloading with Firefox would likely have fixed it as well.
