View Full Version : Are EA Abyssia Units Buggy?

I'm wondering about the EA Abyssia Burning Ones and the Misbreds. They seem to be buggy, but it might be deliberate, which is why I'm posting it here instead of in the bug thread.
If the burning ones are the early Abyssians, why do they have base encumbrance 10? The Anointed of Rhaux is also one of these very early Abyssians, but they have enc 2. In fact, all the other Abyssians seem to have base enc 2.
The strange thing about the Misbreds is their old age. The text says the demonbreds are all recent creations, but they sometimes start out over 300 years old! Their age seems to change each time you look at the unit view. Try clicking on their age from the recruitment window then closing the Misbred window, open it again, and look again. I suppose their age might represent the strain of their creation or something, but the demonbreds always start out at 95 (so the recruitment screen says at least!).
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

For the burning ones im guessing its heavy armour, 2 morning stars and berserk (and possibly the climate) and for the misbreds age disorder it (and the afflictions it brings) could represent the problems they have.

Looking at this page (http://ulm.illwinter.com/dom3/dom3progress.html) I'd guess that:
* Burning one had prec and enc switched

Thanks! I didn't think that page was being updated so I didn't even think to look there!

Misbreds are supposed to be degenerates and freaks and their bodies are sometimes prematurely aged. This is reperesented by a random age addon. You will get an example age if you inspect a unit, but it will be different each time (every time you inspect a unit in the recruitment queue a new unit is created, when you close the window he is killed. In dom2 you could sometimes hear the screams of the dying when closing the window).

I still hear that from time to time when closing the windows of some commanders.

Heh, I also hear the Screams of the Dying sometimes when the Hosting screen says "AI thinking". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I've heard that before as well. Usually in the same turn when the commanders death screams are available.

That would be the souls we used in forging the game. Be sure not to stay up at night alone with your computer. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Often times you will hear the death sound of a unit when you close the recruiting or detailed view of the unit on the recruiting screen.
So it is a joke rooted in a "feature" that happens occasionally.

If there is a joke, it has a real effect of having the sounds of death screams during the hosting or closing the view window while in the recruit screen for some commanders. I'm surprised you haven't heard it; maybe it's some driver-specific "feature".
My favorite perverse joke so far has been the slave collar on Madam Fortuna (a mercenary). Now that is a joke. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
