IIRC in dom-I only one group of mercs. could be hired from a given province. Attempting to recruit a second group of mercs. from a province from which a first group of mercs. was hired resulted in the first group being released of service.
My question is if that behavior is still true from dom-III (guess I could create a test game for that, but I'm in a bit of a hurry...)

You can recruit multiple mercenaries in the same province. I have done this in a game, last night, I think. I didn't know this was a limitation from Dom I or II or I wouldn't have tried it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Also, a word of warning: bidding of mercs was redone for DomII, and automatic re-bidding hasn't been added back yet. You can recruit as many mercs from the same province as you want, though.

BTW having to check merc "flight-time" every turn sucks, why not having just a little message on the last employment month saying
"<merc band name> contract will expire next month, its leader asks if <nation> will bid for a new contract"

That message with an option at the right called "Bid" which will open up the merc window would be a great addition.

Yep, that's something has has sucked since the beginnings of Dom2 (and possibly DomPPP).
