Apologies if this has been answered before, but after doing a quick search on the forums and browse through the manual I didn't see this answered.

At what difficulty level (if any) does the AI start getting cheats or bonuses over the player? I'm currently having a lot of fun playing a game with a bunch of normal AI players, but I might not want to bump up the difficulty if they start getting resource or other advantages at higher levels.

They get resource, money and design point bonuses with higher levels than standard.

For me, it's, unfortunately, too easy to beat "normal AI" on small maps. Does anybody know, what exactly does AI opponet get on each of the levels above normal?

He gets less than you do.

On smaller maps try setting the independents higher. You probably will make better decisions about who to attack then the AI will.

What do you mean?

I'll try that.
AI seems to expand too slow, which leads to low income, smaller army, and, as a result, quick defeat.

Oops I read that wrong. To make the AI harder on small maps, set the indepts lower.

And ignore the "gets less". I was reading "easy AI" for some reason. The harder than normal AIs get more than you. Im not sure how much more but someone might have tried to figure that out.

Samuraigg was asking for *figures*, and indeed I never saw one about that once in 3 years ... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
