View Full Version : Late Age Game, Random Map, Victory Points
Graeme Dice
October 18th, 2006, 07:18 PM
Random Map: 15 provinces per player.
Renaming on
15 hall of famers
No house rules
48 hr quickhost
The winning condition will be to control a number of victory points equal to the number of players. Each capital will count as a victory point. There will be a number of other victory points spread around the map. The amount of these victory points that are spread around the map will be one less than the total number of players.
This is a late age game, come one, come all. I'll be playing Mictlan.

Marignon has underestimated the tenacity of it's northern neighbor Midgard. The glamoured nation blitzkrieged to our capitol and began the process for siege. They easily defeated a several hundred plus army of blessed fanatics and all hope is lost.
The few remaining leaders of Marignon that survived the attempted breakout have gathered all the valuables they can carry and have fled the capital to the neighboring nation of Patala in hopes of political refuge.

The server will be going down for a few hours this weekend, while I repartition the windows drive and reinstall Win98. Why would we? What do we gain out of Ermor's depopulated, death ridden wasteland of a domain? Only disease's for our starving troops thats what. Your lands will provide little income, you do not have a high gem income.
The only reason you were attacked was because in provinces/armies/castles/dominion etc...you were 2-3 times more powerful than anyone else. Myself/Midgard/Man have done everyone a favour in dragging you down.
Ektor
January 8th, 2007, 10:12 PM
it's false, it's not because I have a high statistic about my quantity of troops that means I have the most powerfull army.
Caelum, alone, against me is already a balanced war, so against several...
Do not forget : I cannot recruit any serious troops, I must summon, and as you have noticed : I do not have a good gem income, not enough to be a threat.
Anyway it's the risk of LA Ermor, being banged because of the stats.
Ighalli
January 9th, 2007, 02:10 AM
I consider attacking Ermor doing a favor for everyone else on the map. I don't think many of the other nations were lining up to slow down your wasteland. Your army size isn't the main threat I see from you, it's your massive dominion and province count. Better to contain you sooner than later!
Ektor
January 9th, 2007, 09:42 PM
Question is not anymore if I was a major threat, etc,
we all know that invaders do always pretend some falses reasons to support a 'preemptive' strike on another country.
Question is :
Who can stop your alliance ? is it too late?
facts are that you're both allied, and aggressive.
facts are that there is no other alliance than yours
facts are that midgard is definitively the most powerfull nation.
so your alliance is the real major threat of the game.
Again I make a call to arms :
Who can stop Midgard ?
anyone who want to, I will support him, before it's too late.
Who can attack Caelum?
he can count on me.

Declaration of war against arrogant fools,
As the War rages all over the land Agarthan legions must secure the interests of the Nation.
For long have the Acrosephalean minions wronged us. We offered them our friendship in our folly and thus they made us regret our offerings to them.
We offered them four and more neutral provinces but in their greed they did not listen to our borders agreement and attacked province that we wanted for ourselves and even fortified it same time we pleaded Acrosephalians to withdraw. For many months they held the province and we were forced to gather an army to retake what was ours.
And still we were foolish enough and let them keep the provinces we had given them in good faith.
And to further our mistake - we offered them a non-agression pact on a condition that they must not fortify or bring troops into very narrow corridor of provinces which geopolitically speaking was threatening our heartlands.
They didn't comment the condition of not militarizing the border. Instead they brought in very large armies and build fortrifications.
In this point we knew that war was the only alternative.
Meanwhile our other neighbours, Ermor and Caleum locked themselves into deadly wrestle which we couldn't join with our friends; the Caleum.
...We had to start a long march to bring troops against Acrosephale who had refused our terms on peaceful borders and brought in more troops.
Our diplomatic embassy noted that the court of Acrosephale was partly thinking or was pretending that they believed we had an non-agression pact which we didn't have. If they though so they would have been reading our correspondence as a three year old would read. This is without sense of logic and awarness of what they agreed on as they on their own fallacy of fantasies that we are weak and could be trated without respect or even answering our clause of not militarizing the border that was presented them with the offer of non-aggression pact.
Now foolish Acrosephale will pay for their arrogance.

Agartha's long winded and somewhat poetic post is just a way of prempting my announcement of his breaking our nap with no notification time.
Be aware that Whollaberg does not respect his treaties and will often add new clauses to them after the treaty has been agreed to and consider them part of the agreement and grounds for his breaking the agreement.
Short story is that he is breaking his nap with me at what he sees is a vulnerable time for me and making up excuses for the why of it.
Not sure why he could not wait the three turns except to get a tactical Pearl Harbor type advantage.

Whollaborg

Nonsense Xox of arco! You only claimed we had a NAP when you found out that you were to be struck. We didn't have treties as you broke those twice already by conquering and fortifiying a province that was agreed to belong us and then you even refused respond to our plea for non militarised border.
Failing to respect ones neighbour might lead to a war.
Cheers,
K'Telos who speaks for the grave
P.S. To Ektor we are in friendly relations with all of our reasonable neighbours which include you too. We just hope that you could contain you spreading dominion a bit so that it would not become a further annoyment.
P.P.S. We hereby dennounse any connetions with this gray eminense whom the acro claims has hands on our steer.

I will force host the game at around 11:00 tonight, since we've been waiting on R'lyeh for almost a week now.

Hi,
the quickhost is in 3 hours and four players doesnt played their turns. Is it better to wait?

I guess it got hosted...
I think that if people don't find the time in a 48 hour period to play their turns and don't post here asking for an extension, then they kinda deserve to get a stale turn.

Again,
the server update is in 8 hours and Caelum and Arco havent played yet. Maybe we should pause the game?

The server has been on this particular turn for about three days now, so if they haven't played by this point, it's not likely that they are going to play.

Well I played my turn with 2 hrs to go, Caelum, server was down earlier in week when I tried to do my turn. I think the VPs may have been set a little too high for this game, as noone looks like winning anytime soon!
Arco/Xox I believe from another MP game as lost his internet connection. Wether he gets it back or not is anyones guess.

I believe R'lyeh is no longer playing, as he has staled the last dozen turns or so.
Any chance of putting him AI to speed the game up alittle?

Hi all,
I leave for Cuba for the next week. I wont be able to play. I would be really cool to pause the game, but I understand that 7 days is a lot.
I'm the Man nation. I'm not in war at the moment, so it's ok if you decide to not stall the game for me. Just please dont attack me as I wont be able to retaliate http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
have a great week!

I suddenly have to give up this game.
Agartha is in fairly good shape even thou the war with Acro is not yet over.
Perhaps someone would like to give it a go instead of leaving the nation for the computer which is not fair for neighbours.
Please if you are interested or know someone, post here, soon..

But, power is shifting slowly...

Ouch,
Somehow I staled on that turn even though i have been checking for this game to come back every day. Did everyone stale or just me? Some valuable assests have gone missing too, i can only assume they were lost somehow in that turn or turns I missed.

I reckon I staled about 2 turns.
I think everyone was effected equally, the only gainers where the AI nations.

Myself(Caelum) and Jomon are most powerful. With Man only slightly behind.
Hard to say who will win.

Hi all,
I'm sad to announce that I'll have to leave this game. I'm also playing in the 62 players games and this game is now taking me too much summer time. I should be able to play just one game (the 62 players) this summer.
Is someone interested to take my nation? (exept st. Patrik and Meglobob, of course)
If not, I'll have to turn AI. I'm currently in war against Jomon, if losing ~80 units per turn by long range rituals can be called a war http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif My situation isn't perfect (I'm less powerful than the 2 others) but in the right hand my position can be interesting.
btw, my last stale turn was an accident. I didn't want to miss it. I lost connection while finishing it and I lost the turn (previous times the turn was ok even when I got disconnected). My bad.
Good job all, that game was fun. I liked the war against the high Demons SC of Mictlan http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Thanks for stepping in Ich.
We are on turn 109 and I am really trying my hardest to bring the game to a end...I have embarked on a war of total conquest, so fingers crossed.
There is only myself and Jomon left now, assuming Man goes AI.

I have PM'ed Jomon/St.Patrick to ask if he wants to continue or concede the game to me. I believe I am in a winning postion.
However, someone is only going to win by last man standing or the concession of the remaining players. There is a problem with the VP's, basically you would after conquer the entire map to win this way, if it is possible at all.

July 6th, 2007, 07:01 PM
Hey all - it's been a fun ride so far!
re. Arameyan: fun playing with you - sorry you have to ditch the game.
re. Meglobob (and anyone else listening in): I don't think you are winning quite clearly enough for me to concede. For anyone interested, I lead the graphs in provinces, income, and army size, whereas Meglobob leads in forts, gem income and dominion. Research and VPs are tied.
As I PMed, I would be willing to quit and call it a draw, since turns are taking longer and longer these days.
Thanks to Graeme for hosting so long - even after Mictlan got double-teamed by Man and Midgard.

I really, really would win this game if we were to fight to the death but what the heck I will agree to a honourable draw.
In Spring, 10th year of the ascension wars (109th turn) Caelum (Meglobob) and Jomon(st.patrik) the only 2 remaining powers declared the game over ending in a hard fought but honourable draw.
A huge, big thanks to Graeme for hosting the game so long (9months+) and thanks in particular to st.patrik/Arameyan/Xox and all the other players who made this a very, very enjoyable game.

This has to be one of the longest running MP games around - I'm pretty sure it's the longest (at least in real time) I've played. We should get some kind of medal http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Thanks all for this game,
and thank you Graeme for hosting.
Its the longest game I played, period. I definitively lacked a long term plan with this (first time played) nation. I learned a lot however http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I'm just sad that gift of health + haunted forest didn't pay against Jomon as my dominion wasn't strong enough!
I hope I'll see you again in a game this fall.
