I have modified obat53 (swiss army) with many changes.
Tried to touch the original not to much (except some better or realer names for them) but added lots of real units, possible units and some "unreal" or future units. Also added them to the formations.
Any interest?

Here a short list what I changed:
-Several names e.g. AMX-13 is better known as Pz 51
-G13 Hetzer is just known as G13 and as I know the swiss version didn't have a MG; but not so sure here, so I left the original in the place and added a swiss version.
-added some 30/40 tanks for the early stage of the game (Renault M17 and PzW34 Vickers)
-added the original german/tchechish Version PzKpfw 38(t)(as far I know they were also in use, only some were changed with the swiss 24mm Gun)
-correctet the version names (55a into 55, 55 into 55/60, 55/60 into 55/60 AA2 and so on)
-Pz 68 and 61; added Prototyp (Pz58)and some other version numbers (Pz61 AA7/8, Pz68/75 AA3 und AA4, Pz68 AA5; the old Pz68AA3 and AA4 stayed as they represent the refited Pz68 with the smaller turret! The Pz68/75 actually had a bigger turret but the same version no. AA3 and AA4)
-Name change Leopard tank into Pz87 LEO -> it's the 2A4 Version; the newer Version is called Pz87 LEO WE (=Werterhaltung)
-Name change of the SP Guns, APC's and so on (e.g. 10.6cmPAK58Jeep, Spz2000(CV9030), TransportPz T16, PAL BB65 Hafl.)
-AT Guns / Inf AT (10.6 cm PAK 58, 20mm TB Solo Tm, 8.3cm RackR 50, PAL BB65 Bantam etc.)
-Jaegers -> Fuesilier!
-Engineers -> Genietruppen
-Sniper -> Scharfschuetze
-Grenadier -> PzGrenadier (and added Fallschirmgrenadier, Gebirgsgrenadier and Gebirgsinfanterie)
-added "new" Commando tanks (FO) Pz87 is used as it, also KdoRadSPz 93/99 and Kdo Pz 2000 (also Kdo Piranha 6x6 sooner or later)
-SP Artillery (mod. M109!) is called Panzer Haubitze 88 (PzHb88) with diferent Versions. Added /99 and /01 with modern Ammo.
-added some Trucks (e.g. Duro)
-added Dauphin EuroC and some Pilatus Aircrafts

What did you update? I like your effort. I had modified my obat originally to add airborne as well.

I haven't had time to play a game with it yet but I have looked over the first version that you did.

I will try it out this weekend.

Didn't change much, but when I played I found some "bugs" (like wrong dates for some units or spelling faults etc.)

Added a few more units (like a special force "A Aufkl Det 10" similar to the British SEALS and the "Grenadier A XXI"; there are no more diferent Grenadiere in the "Armee XXI")

With replacing the Hunters (units 147/148) in 1994 the Swiss Air force hasn't an air-surface aircraft any more. The Replacing Mirage III (149/150/161) and Tiger II (151-153)as well as the F/A-18 (156-158) are or were only in the role as air-air or recon missions air crafts. All three are theoretical capable of Air -Surface Attacks, but the Swiss Air force never bought any Weapons to do so!
In Future when the Tiger will be replaced (~2015) the new Aircraft will be possible equipment with air-surface weapons.

So will it be what could be (have the air crafts with possible air to surface missiles) or should it be "realistic"? In that case the Tigers, Mirages and F/A-18 should be removed.
The Mirage could then only stay as a air OP aircraft...
In case of the game balance (you need air-surface supporting air crafts) remove at least the Maverick and CBU and use only Swiss weapons (that would be quit realistic)

I have no idea how the Swiss air force works, but don't they have some kind of stocks of basic air-to-ground weaponry that could be brought up in case of extended conflict? Like dumb bombs or rocket pods? I have trouble imagining F-5s serving as interceptors only.
In the worst case, even interceptors can strafe ground targets with their guns...

That's probebly exactly what they would have to do if they had to strike ground targets. But old rockets and dumb bombs wouldn't do much damage to an Abrams or Leopard tank.
A far mor effective way to destroy tanks "en mass" is a good artillery; and the swiss is not the worst artillery you can have. In fact I would say it's probebly one of the most effective in the world. So what you need bombers for, if you can strike everything that crosses your border with 5-10m precission several times each minute with intelligent ammunition and from the top? All you need to do is protect your artillery with a realy good air defense. And that's exactly what the Swiss Air Force (that includes by the way the air defense systems like the Rapier (Mark Two - where is that in the game any way?) as well) is trained for; intercept and destroy hostile airplanes.

Good job!

Never less, I keep checking, testing and modifying the OOB; so I have already "four differences" made out.

My mistake:
- Unit 731 - there should be 4 NOT 3 155mm M-50's!
Two new Units:
- Unit 974; Pz68 with a 120mm Gun (Prototype in the 90')
- Unit 978; Mowag SAM with Rapier MkII (build for export but theoretically available. Also with Stinger?)
Radio Codes:
- Lots of rare units had code 92, means AI chose those. Changed them to 91. Easy available units or standard units I changed to 92, so AI chooses them.
Indirect firing Fortifications:
- n.a. Fortifications can't fire indirect, only Mortar and Artillery can (right?)
- So Units 760-765 (Mortar Bunkers) must fire indirect -> change them to what? Mortars?

What I have done is classing them as SP mortars (with zero speed of course). In its basics it seems to work but I never did more than a couple of tests.

On the first point I would agree that you should try a SP indirect fire class with 0 movement. Also, what happens if you give a mortar front, side, and rear armor? I did this in one of my OOBs for a mortar pit, but never tested it out. I get the feeling Andy has said before that this creates issues in game.

On the second point, I was thinking about doing this myself for my aircraft pack at a point, but figure I'll just post it here.

This link (http://www.vectorsite.net/avhunt_2.html) mentions a so-called "Hunter 80" program that gave Swiss F.58/A Hunters an AGM-65B capability. Might be interesting to put that in.

I have a version with completly reworked order of units, weapons and formations.
I supose it's not compatible with the original pick list, but to play with the swiss army against the computer works fine and it's easier to find units especialy in the Enzycopedia.

There's a plugin for Paint Shop Pro (and I think no other program) to convert to LBMs. If you have them otherwise in the proper format (color, size, etc), someone with that program should be able to help you out.

P.S. I'm playing with both. The reworked when I play the swiss, and the v3.5 when I play against the PC.

In this particular case, you may have a point. I will consider this option and weigh the pros and cons.

If ANYONE knows of a sceanrio posted anywhere or that anyone has built that has Swiss units let me know. It doesn't just have to be Swiss as either P1 or P2....... it can also be a scenario with units taken from the Swiss OOB as "captured".

I'll also take this oportunity to do an informal poll

Who ( besides Pat and sometimes me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ) plays as the Swiss either generated games or PBEM ?

But with some corrections.
The Formations 22 + 23 had a wrong end date (new is 2020)

The Unit with the Vehicles MOWAG Eagle have been changed.
Eagle IV for example is not in use (yet). The Version Eagle III is a special concept as a FO Vehicle.

Ok, minor fault:

Unit 731 should have only 70 ammo not 90 (HE) shouldn't it?

In v4.0 of the Swiss :swit obat is a minor "fault".:doh:
Unit 952 Bulldozer (Engineer Tank) is available from 1946 - unfortunately the formation 077 Engineer Tanks only from 1963. It should be changed to 1946 otherwise it's not possible to purchase any engineering tank before 1963.

This is corrected in this attached and REORDERED and NOT Compatble version of the obat053. It also contains a new picture and therefore a new Unit (and some changes with the armored cars as I found out they have their units on the outside and not like apc's inside the vehicle). This Unit 007 GMTF(DURO IIIP) is called "Geschuetzter Mannschafts Transport Wagen" based on the DURO truck. But it's armoured and armed and will be ordered next year an introduced to the troops aprox. 2010.

I have here a nice picture of a 20mm AA Gun (already converted into LBM format) that would be nice to have for Unit 82 in the original obat53 (v4.0).

Maybe the developer like to use this in the next Update.

I named it pm27555.lbm (used in my very own version of the Swiss obat - unit142)

ok, I have some isues with lbm-pictures in the Swiss oob.

Units 501 (lbm 32001), 522, 523, 524 (lbm 32002) are missing the pictures.
Also Units 830-835 (lbm 32003).

For Units 858, 859, 860, 861 and 839, 840 I would have this picture (attached).

Don't even think about copying any modified OOB into your OOB folder directly.

Create a sub-folder to unzip the modified OOB(s) into, and use the OOB swap utility to load the mod when needed, or to reload the official one when required from the backup set of official oobs included for that purpose. ( Located in Game Data\OOBs\Default OOBs).

Photos will go in the usual folder - cannot be swapped in and out, but do not affect game play (but weirdness can occur if the OOB modder has overwritten stock pictures!).

However, if the mod has a changed AI pick list then you have problems as AI picks cannot be swapped and they will affect any AI purchase if you try swapping the default OOB back in - see the sticky at the top, ie basically create a brand new game installation for such AI mods.

See the Game Guide -> Game Installation -> Manage OOB Sets for the default case (modified OOB with no AI pick list changes)

By the end of 2009 all the Sp Mortar (12cm) are out of service.

Unit 883 should have a end date of 12/109
Units 884 & 971 can be deleted

Formation 322 get also end date 12/109 (last service in April 2009)
Formations 93/94 need also end date 12/109


The 120mm Mortar (Infantry) Units 174 and 729 were phased out off service sometimes arround 2004-2006

There are discussions going on to bring them back (the officers didn't were very happy to loose such powerful support...)

:)First on-map field guns:

unit 047 and 048; 155mm howitzer - didn't found any evidence they were ever used by the Swiss army - could be removed
unit 090 10.5cm Kan 35 with Weapon (Slot 1) 110 10.5cm Kan42 - see Weapon entry below (Kan35)
unit 091 10.5cm Haubitze with Weapon (Slot 1) 111 10.5cm Hbz46 - Date 1/46 - 12/79 (not until 12/105)
unit 092 155mm Howitzer with Weapon (Slot 1) 112 155mm M-42 FH - change name in 15cm Hb 42 and enddate 1/79

create new units:

clone from unit 090 - but change date: from 1/65 until 12/94, and Weapon 005 in slot 2 into Weapon 007
clone from unit 091 - name it 10.5cm Hb 42; Weapon 111 in slot 1 should be changed to the clone of it (10.cm Hb42 see weapon entry below); Date 1/46 - 12/79

110 10.5cm Kan42 must actually be 10.5cm Kan35
111 10.5cm Hbz46 is correct it's the same as Hbz42 (wich should be added as a clon from Weapon 111 and named as 10.5cm Hbz42)
112 155mm M-42 FH should be 15cm Hb 42 L28 - that seems to be the correct name for the only ever used heavy (over 105mm) field gun.
140 155mm M-50 FH I would leave it in for the PzArtK68 (SP Artillery) prototypes.

There are ore were three classes of the Swiss AA guns (called Flab = Fliegerabwehr), light, medium and heavy (=sch).

The haevy flak after WWII was the 7.5 cm Flab (Unit 758) which could do with a new LBM (24964 attached) and with Icon 61.
Also name it 7.5cm Sch Flab
This heavy AA was often used fortified (unit 757) but with end date 12/68

Later the 7.5cm Sch Flab was replaced by area SAMs Bloodhound and then Rapier wich is still in service under the heavy AA
(no change here as I cheked those earlier).

The medium flak is covered by the 34mm Flab 38 (unit 085) wich ended not before 12/65. I think Icon 1981 fits better too.
(Radio code might be better of with 30 too)
It even needs a clon that last from 1/63 until 12/89 (!) but with weapon 007 in slot 2
Units 086 - 089 and 755 are the newer medium flak (35mm KDB) They seem to be ok.


Now with the light flak it seems to need the biggest adjustment.
An other typically fortified flak was the 20mm Flab 54/60 wich needs to be created.
It has two 20mm AA-Guns (which weapon isn't existing yet) and is mounted on a concrete socket.
It could be cloned from unit 757 but needs lots of adjustments (mod original 5.0 obat53 is attached).

The three existing 20mm flak in the obat might be expended to 16 units (!)
Unit 082 20mm Flab 44 thats actually not to bad, but it must be 20mm Flab 43 (also the weapon 068 is 20mm AA-Gun 43), end date 12/57.
Unit 083 20mm Flab 57 must be the 20mm flab 43/57, end date 12/69, maybe Icon 411
Unit 084 20mm Flab 54 end date 12/69
That leaves us with 13 new units, wich are mainly modifications (clones) from unit 083 and 084.

new unit 20mm Flab 38 from 1/46 - 12/65 with new weaopon 20mm AA-Gun 38 Weapon 5 in slot 2, Range finder and Fire control 3
new unit 20mm Flab 38 from 1/63 - 12/72 with new weaopon 20mm AA-Gun 38 Weapon 7 in slot 2, Range finder and Fire control 3
the radio should be 41 or 31 (mod original 5.0 obat53 is attached).

the 20mm SP flak (unit 043 - 20mm AA dodge) from the austrian obat46 could be added as well (1/61 - 12/67)

I also found some pictres but nothing realy usable in the game due copyright isues or low quality.
I've put some in as attachemnt anyway for some impressions.

Yes I used the default obat to add those artillery and flak and changed the existing (Arty and AA). But nothing before that (the mortars for example). But to be on the save side you might just copy/paste the ones out you'd like to.
Same with the weapons.

The formations though need to be checked!

(I did change a lot more in my "reordered" version but nothing "important", mainly names and radio codes...)

Is it possible that the Picture LBM 12041 has been altered?

It is more likely the M109A7 or Paladin Unit 042 in obat12 (PzHb88 in obat53) then M109A1 or A2 Units 040 + 041 in obat12 (PzHb74+79 in obat53), what it used to be (at least in the swiss an us OOB).

A Good picture for all A1 and A2 variants would be LBM 8013 (Unit40 obat12) I think. Or the old LBM 12041 ...

The difference you can recocnize at the back of the tower (The Icon shows that nicely).

This is my reorganised and altered obat53 for the Swiss army.
(The final one for this version...)
In the basics it's the same as the original but some of the units have different names and dates.

The ai picklist works fine but any campaign or scenario started with the original obat won't work proper any more.

Here what I think could be seen as minor "Hickups" to a otherwise (for me) nearly perfect oob :D

Unit 025 had, according to this page, http://www.militaerfahrzeuge.ch/unterkategorie_13_10_44.html, 1 mg 7,5 mm Lmg 25, 2 mg 7,5 mm Pzw Mg 38.
So The 7.5mm LMg 25 LMG (Wepon 10 in slot 4) is missing.
Unit 020 seems to have still the LBM (25070) from Unit 024 instead from Unit 021 (8013) (back of turret)
Unit 026, without the extra armor it still should use Icon 1417 and 2587
Unit 057 has still the LBM 12041 instead of LBM 24977
Unit 075 Dragon Unit, Why are there 3 crew members, all the others Dragon units in the oob have a crew of 2.
Unit 094 Machine Gun Section, this is the only one with size 1
Unit 118 could still use LBM 25036
Unit 201 wrong LBM should be 25088 like other bunker
Unit 216 and Unit 219 need a ROF
Unit 231, Unit 908 and Unit 909 crew 10 and size 3 recommended
Unit 291 Weapon 2 still 5 not 215
Unit 618 avaiability recommended from 1/48 until 12/59
Unit 619 and Unit 623 don't need ROF

:up: The Version 7.0 is, as it is nearly perfect and clearly enough for most poeple to play the Swiss OOB. So again thanks a lot to the developers.

:D I still prefer to have my own "personalized" Version - so if there is anyone who finds this more enjoiable use this Version of the obat53 (SWISS).
Is there any LBM missing please let me know here, and I will upload it as well.

Major differences are, some Dates (avaiability), Units (names) and wapons (Designation). A few new Units. Formations shouldn't be different at all (AFAIK).

I have noticed that in my oob the sounds didn't match due to the changes in the weapon tap (see patch 7 notes)

Here is the corrected oob - for now with mostly the Standard values.
I will use however the new option and change the oob in a while.

ERROR in OBAT053 (Switzerland) official Patch Version 7.0
(I think they would be wrong)

Unit 236 - Weapon Slot 1 has wrong Sound (208) it hasn't a .50 cal MG (it's a 0.3 cal MG)
Unit 638 - the same as above
Unit 659 - Weapon Slots 1 AND 2 as above
Unit 662 & 663 - Weapon Slots 1 AND 2 have wrong sounds too
Unit 760 until 765 - Weapon Slots 3 AND 4 have wrong sounds
Unit 790 - Weapon Slot 2 has wrong sound
Unit 904 until 906 - Weapon Slots 3 AND 4 have wrong sounds

Never payed much attention to the sounds before...:angel

ANY custom OOB made before this last release WILL have sound problems unless the OOB designer goes through every weapon and zeros the new Weapon sound data field.

It's easier than it sounds but it depends on how many problems exist and every OOB is different....from what I can see looking at an old copy of your Swiss OOB there are quite a few to change to zero. I would suggest starting with weapon #1 then using the down arrow on your keyboard check for any entry in the weapon sound data field and make them ZERO........ the game will then pick up any sound file changes you made to the UNIT WEAPONS data. The only weapon that should have a number in the weapons sound data field right now is a heavy sniper rife gets sound 30....... that will change over time but for now that is the only weapon that uses this new system. I didn't want to complicate things any further on the first go but evenetaully when I add new sounds to the game it will be with the weapons sound data NOT unit sounds

Therefore I would suggest changing unit 002 in the Swiss obat53 to the same as the French.

Survivability 4 -> 3 (it is in the end only a light tank)
Smoke Dischargers 1 -> 2 (there were 12 Smoke grenades aviable, plenty for two discharges)

At least this early version shouldn't be any different from its origin. There were made some improvements later, but i haven't found any details yet.
If I can find any informations about those improvements and if they could be game relevant i'll post them here.

Ok, this one confuses me.

Units 290 & 291 (90mm Mecar PH)
I have absolutley NO idea what they are :confused:

They are classed as Pack Howitzer (196)
The Weapon (100) is classed as medium gun (6)
The Picture Looks like an american 75mm AT-Gun
And they are in Formation (187 & 188) with Pack Animals (Unit 599 - Packesel)

Fact is: The only 90mm (AT-) guns in the Swiss army are represented with Units 689, 690 & 180 - 183

Guns transported by Pack Animals (horses) were usualy Howitzers, but 75mm (7.5cm Gebiergsgeschuetz - Mountain gun).
Or later the normal 105mm field guns (like unit 803 for ex.)

For the existence of those 90mm Mecar I couldn't find ANY source.

Cavalry troops shold have a end date of 72 (Units 888 & 889) and be renamed into "Kavallerie"
Pack animals (Unit599) end date extended to 120 (Needs poss. clones with newer weapons or so). Units could be named "Train Truppe" (Horse troop)
