Features of Cliche Mod:
- all vanilla nations gone
- new, exciting races: orcs, humans, dwarves, blood elves, grey elves, wood elves, dark elves, deep elves, high elves, pork elves, sea elves.
- hp of all units raised by 20
- hp of commanders raised by 50
- hp of heroes rised by 100
- a set of scripts for backing up savegames. With GUI.
- Experience for each battle with independents raised x5. Independents drop magic item more often.
- halved cost of mages
- Gateway is now level0 spell, to comfort people missing Town Portal
- Old magic schools gone.
- New magic shools: Buff, Direct Damage, Debuff, Summoning
- New commander classes: Tank, Puller, Cleric, Mage(Duel), Mage(creeper)
- raygun
- Pretenders no longer lose magic paths when called back
- Ritual of Rebirth and Twiceborn now level0 spells.
- army upkeep costs removed
- in-game aliances mechanic
- new (allied) victory condition: defeat all independents
- all Broad Swords replaced with Katanas
- All races get some kind of recruitable dragons: golden, silver, red, black etc.
- interactive combat (hey ! With reverse engineering, everything is possible !)
- All units who didn't originally have a sword of some kind, get a short sword now. Exception: mages and clerics. Daggers removed from the game, no one ever uses them anyway. All bows replaced with crossbows.
- all armor upgraded to plate armor
I realized it would please a lot of people, so I compiled a list of ideas for your convenience. Someone should mod it. Most of it should be possible now. Any comments ?

Deep Elves and Sea Elves? Sign me up! Don't forget the real ressurection magic, though. None of that crappy undead stuff. It would also be great to finally have humans in this game.
I actually might take a shot at making this. Seems pretty funny, and I do like my goof-off mods. Unfortunately, I think most of it's undoable with the current modding tools.

I think there are more nations with humans than without, although much fewer nations with just humans and nothing else.

You forgot no aging (especially for humans, as they won't die from wounds, it's too cruel with an aging system).
More seriously a total conversion mod to use the dominions engine to make the true sequel of MoM would be really interesting (but moddable xp effects are ultra needed to make a game with important heroes and this xp system need also to be able to give different effects according to the unit, for things like make mages gaining picks or scouts special thievery/ninja skills).

So suddenly a GUI for savegames -- an interface issue -- has become a cliche on a par with orcs, elves, dwarves, etc?

And in0game alliances, which could deepen both the multiplayer and singleplayer game options, are cliches?

Cliché gamers, not games .. for sure http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
interactive combat (hey ! With reverse engineering, everything is possible !)
That's utterly, completly nonsense - surely fitting for a 'cliché gamer' like those mentioned above ... .
The only way to give Dominions "interactive" (real time?) combat is to re-write the whole thing.

Ok, so what other name do you suggest of the mod ?

That's precisely why I posted it.

I think it's meant as a joke anyway - not just from the impossible things, but also the "pork elves". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

While I'm here, it wasn't a GUI for saved games but a method of backing up savegames, complete with GUI.
Anyways, we seriously need to be able to stack helmets on top of each-other.

Bwahaha.
Someone should mod it.
That's so... cliche. awsome.

Here here--helmets should be stackable.
Also:
--people should be able to throw one javelins with each hand, i.e. 2 javelins per turn.
--Vorpal Swords
--more bunny rabbits--not enough mods include warrior bunnies, healer bunnies, mage bunnies....
--Vampires vs. Lycanthropes, armed with machine guns. And more hot chicks.
--hot chick mod. Hot chick in chainmail. Hot chick in skimpy spellcasting outfit that lowers encumberance. Hot demon chicks. Succubuses/succubi??. Really really really cool hot chicks with swords and bikinis/bikinii??.
--Dragons!! More Dragons!! Hot chicks riding dragons would be really really really cool!!!
--a spiritual mod. Deeper. More philosophical. Meaningful. With depth. And meaning. And spirituality. Kant, Descartes, Heideger, Neitzche, and Michael Richards can all be different types of Leaders (mages and commanders). We can use troops called Paradox, Paradigm, Fallacy, etc. They will have weapons like Occam's Razor and The Pencil.

Hey !@! I played a game which had Pork Elves of Times Old, and not just that, but also Maces-In-A-Can, Baby Killer Bee(Note the spaces), Sabertooth Lime, Fruit Golem, Can of Magicalness, Undead Elbow Macaroni, Possessed Can of Tomatoes, Rushing Bum, Vampire Clam, Quantum Mechanic, Fiendish Can of Asparagus(... asparagustabs you in the knee ! Ooof !), Gnollish Crossdresser, Gnollish Tyrejuggler, Possibly Giant, Knob Goblin Barbecue Team(includes magically animated grill), Weremoose, and more !
And it has classes as glorious as Seal Clubber, Turtle Tamer, or Accordion Thief.

people should be able to throw one javelins with each hand, i.e. 2 javelins per turn.
I protest. That's not cliche enough. Many games don't even have spears, let alone such an obscure ranged weapon like javelin. Problem is, spear requires different animations, because fighting style is different.http://livinghistory.ie/modules.php?name=Documents&MODE=SHOW&PAGE=Introduc tion The canon of ranged weapons is: bow and occasionaly shuriken (throwing star). Everything else is too obscure.
--hot chick mod.
Only if they wear black leather.
We can't afford to have mere dragons in the mod, or even dragons of different colors. We need something better. Megadragons, Rust Dragons, Crystal Dragons too ! And dragon cavalry. How about dragons in Province Defence ?

Black leather bikini clad chicks in extremely high heels, riding chainmail Megadragons, and cracking a Pleasure Whip that does mind control/domination/turn if MR is not rolled.
Hot Elven Chick mod would be good too. They could use bows. And arrows.
Yeah.

I'm waiting for "Dominions: Segway" the realtime tactical 1st person 3D shooter version of our favorite game in which we take on the role of Bogus as he and his buddies attempt to free his beloved bloodslave and her elderly uncle from the evil clutches of the Hunter of Heroes. It should be coming out 6 months before Dominions for Playstation 3.

Actually, it should be coming out one week after the "Dominions: Bloodslaves, Elf Chicks and Bigass Dragons" movie hits the theater, to maximize money-milking.

I'm doing something similar: Dominions: Segway--wherein all the new units ride around on Segways. Encumberance and Fatigue, mounted, slow though, and no trampling.... The graphics are kinda a bummer. Painstaking putting Ogres and Dwarves on Segways.

Along with junking aging, we need to provide a cheap way of getting rid of afflictions, curses, and horror marks. It's so hard to be the bestest with the mostest when a single battle can leave you crippled and doomed. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
B0rsuk
November 28th, 2006, 12:04 PM
No, no you get it wrong.
All units will be 10-20 years old.
All units have encumbrance of 1 (or 0 if possible).
Getting rid of aflictions ? Potions, of cours !!

And making potions reminds me: wizards should be able to forge stuff and cast rituals wherever they are. Going all the way back to a lab is just so hard.
HoneyBadger
November 28th, 2006, 09:41 PM
Wizards with any level at all in air should ofcourse be able to fly. Likewise, wizards with water will regain the ability to breath water, nature mages regenerate and plants and animals will not attack them, wizards with death magic will transform into liches automatically when they die, and wizards with fire will explode without the need for a medallion of vengeance. Earth magic (considered boring) will be replaced by the Kung-Fu magic path. Anyone with any levels in Kung-Fu will gain 2 kicking attacks, 4 fist attacks, and strength +12. Magic levels will be reduced to 3: like totally psychic, really awesome powerful, and archmage ultra-special-deluxe.
Uh-Nu-Buh

Kung Fu Archmages!! Awesome!!!111
How about we redo the messages the computer gives us so they are more upbeat and energetic? E.g.
"SUDDENLY!!!!! A bunch of FIREBALLS appear in your camp and blow 18 of your units the HECK UP!!! W0000T11!! ALL YOUR BASS ARE BELONG TO THE TIEN CHI!!! SUKKA!!! PUCKER UP AND KISS HIS FISH111!!!"
and
"A bunch of fabulous fall leaves of gorgeous gold, beautiful brown, and orangalicious orange hue were found in a badger's den! You lucky lucky lucky lucky dog you!!"

Oh and we need the politically correct button to turn off all the "religiousity", so as not not offend anyone. Not to mention, the violence and sexuality. Instead of swords and crossbows, armies will now be equipped with Nerf-bats and super-soakers filled with undead-and-demon-melting Kool-aid. They'll be stylin' in armor designed by Armani and Cheryl Teague. I like valkyries who where Abercrombie and Fitch. Imagine the endorsement possibilities!
And on that note: sure, people used to worship the Great Earth Mother as is, but that icon is old, and I mean cave-man-days. In the year 2006, we need a slimmer, more debonair earth-mom-on-the-go. Modern mom can still crush an army while fitting into a bikini, especially if she's wearing power pumps and driving an SUV.

Yeah, good idea. There would be potential for several overly-complex love interest mini-games.
It's also be totally awesome to port Dominions to consoles- implementation of the wii remote, especially, would be great.

Badgers are the Master Race !
HoneyBadger
November 30th, 2006, 10:10 AM
Badgers should be a major new race in the game. Infact, there should be plenty of talking (or in the case of badgers, typing) animals and Animorphs (everyone loves fuzzies, especially certain demographics which this game normally would not reach) in the game outside the boundaries of the overly-explicit Pangaea. Each hero shall come fully equipped with not only a complex interweaving love-interest, but atleast one mandatory fuzzy sidekick, and/or golem/loremaster/second, kinkier love-interest/talking horse/insect-in-a-tophat, and a large, extended family (several of which will costar as either sidekicks, comic relief, really, REALLY kinky love-interest (we're trying to reach that demographic, too), or recurring villains: said villains revealing their identity as long lost father/mother/uncle/cousin/sister/brother/clone within the course of the game and then switching sides against the evil enemy forces in the last few rounds of any battle in which the player would otherwise lose.) Note, the hero's initial fuzzy sidekick can double as the following: comic relief (a popular choice), savage-yet noble-thug, kinky love-interest, long-lost-relation-disguised-as-a-villain- disguised-as-a-sidekick.
Furthermore, all graphics shall be redone in Anime style and Blood Magic (ick) shall be renamed Hentai.

This is no laughing matter. I already considered modding a badger nation - with heavily armored badgers, three-headed firebreathing badgers, melisus (badger with wings, I actually saw one in my dream once) and others. And don't forget http://cybercat.furtopia.org/badger.jpg
And there will be badger tribe poptype (+1hp, darkvision, precision -1)

The Warm Fuzzy mod is excellent. The Badger Mod sucks. That doesn't sound very Cliche. It sounds perfectly legitimate. Now, put some bikinis on those badgers, make them ride megadragons, and give them 4 arms and 4 misc item spots, then you are talking.
Better yet, give them all cadillacs.
