I finished the basic version of necronomicon file. It contains all common spells of all schools (531), but not national ones. Columns: paths(primary first), spell name, research level, research school, battle/ritual.

I tested it with my spellbook script and with the following command:

<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>egrep -v '(F|W|A|E|S|D|N|B)* [^ ]* [0-9] (Conjuration|Alteration|Enchantment|Construction|H oly|Thaumaturgy|Evocation|Blood_Magic) (battle|ritual)' necronomicon</pre><hr />

...but it's not a perfect way, I'm afraid. It found two typos (Conuration, Enchantmen) so there could be more. Please report if you find any. It was a very tedious work, and I occasionaly caught myself writing wrong spell levels or battle instead of ritual (or vice versa).

Dust off your regular expression skills and have some fun ! Also check following linux commands: egrep, awk, wc, diff, sort, uniq, cut, cat, and cowsay. The last one is not installed by default.
And don't forget to praise me.

ToDo:
- national spells
- additional columns: number of effects, range, area of effect, duration, underwater/surface/anywhere, spell type, damage, and other boring stuff.

I hereby announce to the world that B0rsuk, greatest Hero in the world, slaughterer of the beast, Sorceror of the Necronomicon, is the Prophet of Uh-Nu-Buh.

Good work, my dark jedi.

This will make a lot of people in the mod section happy too, so make sure you post a link to it there as well!!

Are prophets allowed to have such long titles?

Mine are. Don't worry, UninspiredName, you can be my next prophet (after B0rsuk gets smashed by one of my numerous enemies on the forum, we'll have to wait a few turns, then I will make the announcement.)

B0rsuk, to properly honor you, I shall wear the icon you so generously gifted me, just as soon as I get around to equipping it, lazy fat procrastinator that I am.

thank you again!

I'm a little confused as to the purpose of this. What do I do with it?

It's a plain text file, for us Windoze users I've put it in Excel format, much more practical http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Looks good. Since stealing that outright would be bad manners, do I have permission to swipe this for use in the Dom3 DB project if I decide to do spells as well?

You're allowed to do that, but keep in mind I'll add more columns and spells (national) in future. You may have additional work to do later if you use it now.

That's okay. I might have a bit differing ideas on how to format the thing to best suit the purposes I'm envisioning, so I don't mind. I've got something of a track record of jotting down stuff from Dominions at this point anyway. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Er, there's no permission to ask for - at least, not from BOrsuk. It's all taken from Illwinter's work, after all...
