Strages has to patch first. The usual sequence of events is everyone does there latest turn with 3.04, then the host patches, then all the players do.

hrm I am at work, but seems like something bad is going on... maybe a player patched and that is causing problems?

I haven't patched yet. I have also never had the error I saw last night before (which seems like it might be the same error again) although I can't tell until I get home in 4 hours.

The nation of Mictlan wants to trade for Skull Mentors and one set of earth boot, one dwarven hammer. Can forge Armor of Twisted Thorns, Brazen Vessel, Thistle Mace, lifelong protection, soul contract, heart of life. Soon for trade (sooner with skull mentors http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif: black heart, blood thorn, hell sword, water bracelet, boots of youth

The power of Sauromatia is broken. After twice rebuffing our offer of friendship, the bloody god demanded the entirety of the Amazon noble line be consigned to the sacrificial pits. Tales of the killing fields at the foot of the holy ziggurat made their way back and took hold deep in the hearts of the Sauromatian soldiers. Their replacement army was set upon left and right by our cunning ambushers, Sauromatian soldiers disappearing in the black of night never to be heard from again. Tales of the bloody fate of those who oppose the will of the bloody god spread, along with starvation and disease as the skies darkened and the very rain which fell upon their lands turned to rotting toads. The last army of Sauromatia cowered in the mountains as their nation rapidly dwindled, too fearful from having been bloodied every time they turned their back to leave their camp even under the noon sun. Starvation and desperation take deep hold in their souls as they become resigned to their fate.

Now the armies of Inferno ravage their lands and bring their daughters to our pits to worship the bloody god with their essence. Hoards of imps descend every month, tormenting all they come across. As the countryside burns, the army of Mictlan, lead by our great prophet and legendary tactician Tlahuixcalp marches to the last Sauromatian stronghold. The blood of the amazons will run down the holy ziggurat within the fortnight, and all shall know Hi Bi Kami as the delusional snake he was.

Maybe some of you guys will post in the Game Server thread.
http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=473740&page=1&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

Personally I think Shrapnel should build and manage a multiplayer server. One well built server would handle ALL multiplayer game currently being played (and more).

I don't even want to know how many hours I put into this game... most in the build up phase to anticipation of what was to come. And now its possible that it was all for nothing. Very sad.

Of course I'm still hopefully Strages will return... even if its a week from now.

Same here Maltrease, agree with you 100%. This has happened in 2 games I am in at the moment, this and cradle of dominion. Putting 40-50 turns play into a MP and then have them just end is sad.

Manuk
February 13th, 2007, 05:41 PM
what if all the current players send their 2h files to someone like a PBEM?
shouldn't it host normally?

llamabeast
February 13th, 2007, 06:29 PM
It doesn't work like that unfortunately, you need the "ftherlnd" file as well to host it.

Kydorias
February 14th, 2007, 06:24 AM
I've waited enough time to say this, but the last turn we played this game I moved a quite powerful force into Atlantis' capital province. Strages Sactus is/was Atlantis.

Know that he attacked me first and continued to attack me relentlessly. Frankly I almost turned my game over to the AI several times since it seemed I was doomed. However, I was eventually able to prevail and the tides of battle turned against Atlantis. Finally since Vanheim cut Atlantis' land route of advance against me, I was able to take the offensive and move my armies against Atlantis.

I sincerely hope this is not the case, but Strages Sanctus might have taken down the server since he was about to suffer a terrible defeat, at least unless a miraculous event took place that would have saved him.

Regardless, if he did take down the server simply because he was on the verge of defeat, that is a dishonorable thing to do. I think that if you agree to host a game, you host it until the bitter end, even if you suffer a defeat.

If this is a case, I would warn everyone against joining a game that Sanctus is hosting. I would also warn against allowing Sanctus to join a game due to his possibly dishonorable actions.

I hope I am mistaken and that Sanctus will reappear and allow this game to continue.

Teraswaerto
February 14th, 2007, 06:34 AM
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I hadn't realized that Strages was Atlantis. This certainly looks bad, although there's no way to know for sure.

As Kydorias is saying, I began to attack Atlantis' land provinces, and on the last hosted turn wiped out an Atlantean army around 150 strong with practically no losses. He was on the fast track to elimination at that point.

Baalz
February 14th, 2007, 12:51 PM
The REAL crappy thing is that this seems to be a really good game for a lot of players, and at least one (probably more) would be willing to take over hosting if we could just get the ftherlnd file. Strages, if you did drop from being eliminated (and see this), could you please, please, please give us that file so the rest of us could figure something out?

I'm still faintly hoping that Strages will return at some point with the game files.

I, on the other hand, needed only another 50 - 100 turns for my carefully planned strategy to flower. Then, though, yes THEN, you all would have been in some deep trouble.

Barring, of course, any curves you all might have cooked up in that time.
