View Full Version : Insects ruined my game

I just ran into some insects which, after a rather intense battle, made my game crash. No message, no "would you like to send a report"-window, nothing. Just a sudden *POP* and I'm looking at my desktop instead of the game window...
Am I the first one to discover this bug? Never seen this insectoid race before and I sure do hope that it doesn't happen again should I run into this event later on.
Edit: I met them again but this time the game stayed intact, so I suppose it was just a random crash.

They killed my game too! I had defeated everything else and
was finishing up exploring the rest of the space. I had
outfitted a fleet, arranged for the Klaxar to be at the
target star (without using the beacon) and was "wasting
time" by swapping equipement until the Insectoids reached
the star. I got the initial warning screens, but then the
system hung before I could battle. I had to use Task Manager to shut down the game before I could do anything
else.

At least you get to even see those insects, unlike us Mac users ;-)

I know it's annoying to ressurect old threads, but...
I just had the exact same thing happen to me.
Brood event was on the first planet I explored, so Ravians were showing up right away.
The second planet I explored had the mirror, so I just ran up the middle till Ravians got to Glory, then mirrored back and explored the near-glory area while they headed back down from where I dumped them at the top of the map.
I got better weapons and brought the klakar to Glory. Then I twiddled my thumbs. I hit the play button to speed time up till the first Ravian fleet arrived... and instead it just froze.
Eventually it dumped me back out on the desktop.
