How to make use of corpses?

I'm playing in a game as Sauromatia, and there are lots of corpses around. In my previous game I was Ermor, and they were great for reanimation. Obviously I knew I couldn't reanimate as Sauromatia, so I thought I'd cast some "Raise Soulless" spell... only to find there doesn't seem to be one.

So, apart from Carrion Reanimation (too high research), raising them in battle (the province is not about to be in a battle) and Feast of Ravens or whatever it's called (seems hopelessly inefficient), what can I do with the corpses?

Its doubtlessly out of your research range but eater of corpses(the dead?) would be nice. It likes tasty rotting flesh and gets stronger.

True... unfortunately there's several reasons not to cast eater of the dead... first the magic paths make it difficult to summon, second astral gems are better spent summoning the powerful fellas/commander from ether gate, third this creature will eventually turn independent and go on a wild attacking spree. These combined reasons don't make it worthwhile to cast eater of the dead.

I guess i just have fond memories of gifting it with reason and sending it on a rampage through enemy territory. All the while watching it grow, not caring if it goes crazy because it will just leave a thorn in the middle of the opponets empire. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/firedevil.gif

The ether people wont take care of the unburied bodies. I think llamabeast's gravediggers are not doing their job.

Thanks guys. So, the conclusion is that corpses in friendly territory are useless unless you have high research (or reanimators)?

you call also cast raven feast(5 air gems I think) It's give death gems from corpses

Raven Feast isn't too effective. Think of it as a more efficient way to alchemize gems than an actual source of income. I've gotten only 4 death gems out of a lot of corpses.
Still it's useful when you have a decent air income and you want to bootstrap a death income.
