I'm trying to make some magic items and I see that the side affect of 'eye of aiming' is that you are cursed. I've looked in the manual and it doesn't seem to state in detail what negatives this entails.
Does anyone know?
Also, what are the negatives of being diseased? I was considering making the bane venom charm but aren't sure what will happen to my commander that wears it!
thanks

You are not 'cursed'. Its just the item wich is cursed and that means you can't remove it from a slot.
If your commander is cursed there is a symbol to show this. Cursed units have a greater chance to get afflictions when hit.
Being diseased means you lose 1 hitpoint every month and don't heal anymore. In addition you get further afflictions.

A cursed item cannot be removed from the slot it requires(though shape changing may do it if the other form lacks that slot iirc) where-as being cursed gives you a higher chance of getting afflictions.
Being diseased makes you lose 1 health each month and may give you afflictions, it also stops you from healing.

2 questions
1. does being cursed only affect your chance to get afflictions and nothing else?
2. when you shapechange into something that doesn't have all the gear slots you had before, what happens to the extra gear?
and thanks in advance

I think if your on a lab it will go to the lab, otherwise its lost.
(also you will lose gear when you regrow a lost arm, same scenario.)

The 'cursed' unit attribute only affects affliction chances IIRC. I believe it increases them quite significantly though. It's not that big a deal on random troops.

You lose gear when you regrow a lost arm?
I could see losing a weapon/shield when you lose an arm, but when it regrows?

Diseased regenerators will not lose 1 hp / month and will heal damage, but they will continue to accumulate afflictions (although this too may be affected by their 1/8 chance for afflictions).

Oddly enough, if you bring diseased unit/leader into combat, and give them the regeneration ability temporarily (via nature magic/bless), they will regenerate back up to their normal HP value.
This can happen quite often for nations with old-age sacred mages, and produces the weird result where you need to put your aged commanders into battle every few months to keep them alive.
