The Era 1 game bl_crevasse on port 8049 on Gandalf's server (http://game.dom3minions.com/bin/blitz_chk.cgi) needs just two more players to auto-start.

Thank you to the host!

Here we go indeed ! It looks as though I might lack the experience of my opponents (only playing my second MP game - and my first MP game is on about the same turn).
Well, it should prove educational ....

Class is in. It looks like I am likely to get carved up in short order. All three of you are now floating around rather menacingly.

Anyone know what happened to this game? I can't seem to connect, and Gandalf's status page is only listing one new game.

Tha LA game I'm in still seems to be up and running, though it's not listed.

It seems to running fine now, unfortunately for me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif
Have been staring defeat in the face for some time, first largish battle against something other than the AI was something of a shock.

This point of this game now seems to be Yomi waiting till its ready to throw up a bunch of simultaenous global spells and then tell everyone "Guess what I managed to in a blitz game, yes you heard right in a blitz game !"

It hasn't happened yet but thats what we think up in the north - those devious, smelly little demons - what else could they be up to ?

I can assure you I am not toying with you, just proceeding cautiously.

Oceania has been throwing harassing attacks at my main force in the south--and you just beat my main force in the north (although it was probably an order of magnitude weaker than the southern one http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif). If I run north to attack your army, I run the risk of raids in the south by Oceania.

The game might be closer than you think.

Unless you were counting on your pretender http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/skull.gif and can't get her back quickly.

Oceania lost most of its armies (and its pretender 3 times) trying to reach the other ocean. Sauromatia finally let me in. Due to such early losses I doubt that Im in a winning position but will be hard to erradicate, and I can affect the outcome of the game.

I still have my eye on Arcos home province on one side, and YOURS on the other. Go ahead and step north. heehee

If YOURS=Yomi, don't you have to go through Arcos cap to get to Yomi's?

Unless stealthy buggers have made the trip? (& your love of stealth is well-known)

EA Oceania isn't stealthy though, is it?

Actualy I now own the ocean on both sides. Expect some heavy preaching soon.

To get there I had to talk Saurmatia to leaving a water province completely so I could take it with a scout (louckily he couldnt build PD) then I made the scout my prophet so I can build temples. Hiring that water mage into the new ocean got me a lab.

You will now feel the squeeze

By the way, I "oopsed".
I rarely announce the games Im in, and even rarer doing it as my moderator. It doesnt seem appropriate in this forum. Only the beta-test forum knew me as the games I was in.

Yep, Yomi's priests are for crap.

This doesnt feel right now. There would be repercussions to me if I lost. There would be repercushions to me if I won.
options:
A) I go AI
B) we ask for a sub

OK I take that back, some of us would.

I am happy with either course of action - it just occurred to me that we could invite llamabeast to step in as he is beating me soundly in another of Gandalf's hosted games. I have no idea if the beast would be interested.

I am not suggesting in any way here that beating me soundly is a mark of a good player http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif or an average player http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif or the AI set to easy http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

So far it looks like we will be asking for a sub.

Its a fun game. Small map, small ocean on each side.
Arcoscephale took a fast lead and about 2/3 of the map almost wiping out Sauromatia. During that conflict Oceania lost alot of troops and his pretender 3 times trying to reach the other ocean thru the battle-damaged provinces.

Then Sauromatia pushed Arcos back hard (gaining the 2/3 of the map). That allowed Yomi to surge forward (now working on getting 2/3 of the map. An arrangement betwen Oceania and Sauromatia allowed Oceania to reach the second ocean.

Its now turn 59 and Oceania is setup about as well as he is going to get.
Anyone interested?

note to new players
Its a great way to learn. If you lose, you can blame me for the rotten setup. If you win, you can crow extra for playing a setup you didnt pick.

I realize it is a blitz game but was wondering whether we might have a pause in hosting Saturday, please? I'll be away from the internets for most of the day.

Digress
March 28th, 2007, 08:01 PM
I would be happy for that to happen.

Do we all stale ?

Or do we beg our host to make some magic happen ? (Given some of Gandalf's recent posts he might not want to alter a game that is running along happily http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif )

Gandalf Parker

heehee. I explained to the Rev how to make it happen.
Sending me an email saying "please shut off hosting on saturday and turn it back on sunday" wont work. Im too old and uncaring to remember that far ahead.

What works is for the person running the game (started the thread) to send a PM on saturday with something like "please turn off hosting" and then send a PM on sunday saying "please turn back on hosting". That way as soon as I see the PM I can do it and forget it.

Im not trying to be mean or anything. Thats just the best way to work me. Im old and easily distracted.

Well I think it is curtains for Sauromatia. I could never manage to mass enough mages to summon enough tough units to deliver a hard enough blow to knock off enough Dai Oni's at once to keep Yomi from bouncing back stronger and stronger. The grinding style of warfare Sauromatia faces now has taken an awful toll - a majority of leaders and troops suffering from disease and no gold with which to purchase replacements. I don't think I can even get enough priests together to stop my dominion from winking out in the near future. Not that Yomi seems to be actively preaching against my last flickering candles (I am suffering some collateral damage from my ally's efforts).

As this is my soon to be second completed MP game I would like to thank my ally and opponent for making it so enjoyable.

I think that you did an excellent job killing Dai Onis! I must have recruited over a dozen and have only a few alive at the moment. And most of those are new recruits, from the past five turns or so.

I don't know what I'm going to do about Oceania...

You also were a worthy opponent! I thought you and Oceania might turn the corner and get the upper hand when his raiders were at their high-water mark and I kept losing to your Witch-King-led armies.

My secret weapon was to be Niefel flames I had 4 tritons able to cast them, but then I saw 3/4 of your army were immune to cold, so that was it hahaha

Reverend Zombie

On cold-immune:

Your ice strike caseters were pretty nasty. I wondered why cold immunity wasn't protecting me, then recalled that ice strike does physical damage.
