View Full Version : Good Maps for MP

I'm looking to start another game, and I'd like to get some suggestions on maps. I'm thinking I'd like something big (20-25 provinces per player and 12 - 20 players). From DomII I recall the Cradle map (or maybe Zen's Cradle, specifically) having an interesting topology w/ well chosen choke points and providing for fun MP play generally.

It'd be nice to have something w/ 40+ sea squares, and the top candidate for that would be Glory of Gods-MP. I love big maps, so I guess the Glory of Gods (non-MP) would be great, but it has such a huge number of sea squares that I guess maybe the water nations have an unfair advantage.

Anyhow, I'm certainly open to any old DomII maps, and happy to download and maybe edit a bit to get just the right map. I've played w/ the in-game randomizer, and I don't like that it never gives you the straight mountain types. I haven't played w/ any of the other randomizers out there, and I'm open to that, but I wouldn't want to get into any photoshop work (and I'd rather not play on a super-ugly map).

TIA,

Hellboy

You can download ZenCradle v1.4 from somewhere, I'm sure. There should be an improved Cradle in the next patch, fixing that map file is on my to-do list.

Löemendor is a good MP map, around 150 provinces but few seas. Faerun 283 and 424 are going to get updated for Dom3, but that's backseat business until I get the bug reports straightened out and Cradle and Parganos fixed. If you want a really super-humongous map, look up Twan's Oerth (Greyhawk) map. Faerun 424 looks like a bite-sized morsel compared to that one.
