Hello again, GODS http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Long, long time ago, in the MIDDLE ERA, the world become dark, full of skeletons, living dead, ghouls... Those were the dark times for all living beings...
Emor has defeated all his oponents and become the only ruler.
Now the time has come. The new GODS are awakeing. Emor has vanished, noone knows why.
Rumors say, that he has been banned by the main God, admin....

Now, lets go to the point:
as we have already finished our MA game (congratulations Daniel), now it is time for the Late Era.

Details are like the previous time (I'll try not to forget to set Victory Locations...)

Game Type: TCP/IP (static server)
Speed: multigen for the first 12 turns - later - quickhost but at least 1 gen per 24hrs.
Era: Late
Players: 10 (experience requiered)
Start: Probably 18 March - Ill tell the exact time on Thursday
Nation Selection: without killing pop/disiese spread (Emor), and Vanheim cannot take water bless (unless a neebie player). Water nations: BAN.
Map: 15 provinces per player pre-generated map.
Victory Conditions: 1VP per capital, 10 random 1VP provinces, 12 VP needed to win. 10water prov so the map will be something like 160 prov (for 10 players)
Graphs: off
Hall of Fame: 15
Renaming: On
Indi's: 5
Starting prov: 3
Everything Else: Defaults
-we are located in Poland, +2GMT
-no mods
-we play "rpg" kind of game, with pacts, alliances, NAPs etc. What is important, pact once signed MUST be obeyed. Sometimes we say that there is an alliace lasting 10 turns. Or lasts until someone rejects this but with for example a 3 months notice. etc

-those who are interested, please send me an email at
biuro(@)mathilde.pl - I dont usually look at private messages
- Ill email back with the IP, port and time when we start

Please, vote only those who are going to play:)
We start at 5:00 PM EST =>23:00 Polish time, CET => 10:00 PM GMT. Voyte which day. There is a chance that I will be able to play since Sunday, but Ill do my best to be avaible earlier.

So far we have:
1). Blofeld: Marignon
2). Kojusoki: Arco
3). Zolharm: Utgard
4). WSzaboPeter: MAN
5). Jazzepi: T'ien Ch'i (cannot play on Friday)
6). Kiss Blade: Patala
7). JayThomas: Caelum
8). Methel: Pangea
9). Shovah32: Agartha
10). Catquiet: Mictlan
11). GameExtremist: will choose

Seems we have all the players, so maybe we will start tommorow? As usual, 2 players will forget or something so if anyone wishes to join - ok, he/she will be on a reserve list.

Please send me your emails!!! Im sending port and IP ONLY thru emails (biuro (@) mathilde) so please write something to me:)

Based on what Kojusoki told me, yes. It is also a water nation and obviously some people find the water critters annoying.

I've seen posts claiming that R'lyeh killing dom can be offset with growth 3. Anyways, it's banned in this particular game. Plenty of others to choose from.

Methel - server will be ready 10 minutes before we start as we are going to play SEVERAL turns, one by one, for a few hours time. So at the exact time we all have to be connected (we have played many times wich such rules and it worked) and ready for the game. Those who are not ready, simply will not play.

In the attachment, you can find a map (jpg) we will be playing on. This map shows the advance of Emor centuries ago...

Now, when the Emor is almost gone, there are 10 new pretenders... Ten pretenders to become a true GOD. There are Nations who live close together and share similar motives. Maybe they can sign and alliance or other pact at the very begining?

Those Nations WILL NOT attack each others for the first 10 turns (turn 10th is the turn you can send orders to attack):

Marignon + Mitclan (as they share banned blood magic)
Arco + Patala (as they have similar troops)
Utgard + Caelum (as they are cold bastards:)
Man + Pangea (forests)
Agartha + Tien Chi (noone knows why:)

On the map, there will be 10 INDEPENDENT castles with really strong garnizon of Undead's - remains of the once mighty Emor... The castles are worth 1VP and have magical sites.

March 14th, 2007, 11:38 AM

I was thinking about playing, and had forgotten water nations were banned, then figured I'd ask for future reference--in case there was a game banning pop-killers, but not water races.

I've been too busy to check it out in SP myself, so I went the lazy route of asking. Probably better off in the main forum, though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I modify map. Now on map is 9 Ermorian Castel and 1 Ermorian Citadel with 1 Titan, 3 fire mage, 3 Grand Thaumaturgy and 150 (200 in citadel) Knight of the unholy Sepulchers (powerful ermor cavalry). In every province with fortes you find Ten Thousand Things(1A,1E,1N,1W,1F), Gem Deposits (75gold), Graveyard of the Damned (2D). Also every castle give 1 VP (citadel 2 VP).

Catquiet
March 14th, 2007, 10:03 PM
I've been trying out mictlan in single player and I really don't like having to do blood sacrifices to spread dominion. I'm going to switch over to black forest ulm.

WSzaboPeter
March 15th, 2007, 12:02 AM
Hmm, I fear that VPs with so big and powerful defense will make all the players no go for VPs reduceing it to a simple deathmatch. In Semi-random-map test game the same problem appeared. The defense even had a huge amount of supply items (cauldrons if I recall correctly) there to negate the long siege technique. I would advise a less powerful guard for those castles.

Zolharm
March 15th, 2007, 08:19 AM
We can decrees skeleton number to 50, it is easy. Titan don’t have magic item, I place him to prevent assassination army commander.

Kojusoki
March 15th, 2007, 10:13 AM
Well I think that this will the last bastions of Emor - it must be well defended. Also - reward is awesome - many magic sites and victory points. Is is easier to take an another capital or this neutral castle? I think defence should be high.

WSzaboPeter
March 15th, 2007, 02:22 PM
I think 50 skellies are great, but a huge defense would shift the capturing of the VPs to end game or worse, it could lead to vps being ignored by players.

KissBlade
March 15th, 2007, 08:52 PM
Actually I think the VP defenses are a little easy to take down.

Open letter to Jazzepi, god of T'ien Ch'i:
Greetings my friend,
I beg your pardon, but it seems that the massages on the forum are not red or understood by you, so I took the freedom to communicate with you thought this, rather formal way.
My concern is that you took too provinces that are very close to my capital. There is only 1 province separating them from my capital. Since we have a non agression pact I can't attack you, but your acts are somewhat hostile, as if you would only wait for the end of the before mentioned pact to invade my heartland. If we can't reach to some kind of mutually beneficial solution I'm terribly afraid that I need to cancel our pact, and this would somewhat affect our peaceful relations. I don't wish to mention the horrific possibility of a full scale war.
Thanks a lot for your kind understanding,
Your friend,
DreamSlayer, God of Man

Kojusoki
March 19th, 2007, 02:12 PM
Well, I understand that if you have choosen this kind of "communication channel" you expect that others will say something. In my opinion, which can be wrong of course, advancing and taking INDEPENDENT provinces is not a hostile action. No matter where those INDEPENDENT provinces are located. Unless of course, your pact was saying something about those INDEPENDENT provinces. Of course you may dislike his movments, but as far as I understand the situation, he makes everything according to the rules.

Also, as far as we used to play, Nations with NAPs CAN fight with each other, but ONly on the INDEPENDET's lands... Saying simply - atack those INDEPENDENT provinces also - there can be only one:)

Look - with Pangea, Arco has a very clear situation - we have war http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

ONE MORE THING TO THOSE WHO DONT READ EMAILS:

SERVER HAS BEEN RELOCATED, SO PLEASE, MAKE YOUR MOVES ONCE AGAIN FOR THIS TURN!!!!

Jazzepi
March 19th, 2007, 02:21 PM
*Out of Character*

I'm fairly sure you aren't allowed to cancel pacts for any reason, WSzaboPeter. Besides of course the other person violating it in same way. The NAP we setup didn't stipulate anything about invading neutral territories close to your capital.

You may be unhappy with Tein'chi's expansion, but that's part of the problem with making pacts! I made one with the lizard race in my newbie PBEM game and he's basically over-running the world right now. Even 3vs1 we might still lose.

Jazzepi

WSzaboPeter
March 19th, 2007, 02:22 PM
Kojusoki, that's wise. I will attack and take only those 2 offending territories and then if T'ien Ch'i wishes peace I will grant him peace.

Methel

Hmm, I think the diplomacy rules are a bit constraining, how about we use sheps rules of diplomacy instead, makes for a more interesting game imho.

Also I would considert taking a province bordering my capital a hostile move, about as hostile as when you attacked me koju http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

WSzaboPeter
March 19th, 2007, 02:52 PM
Well I agreed a NON AGGRESSION pact. If I consider this as an aggression, then you violated the pact, since it was not specified what can be considered aggression.

Hey, hey. This isn't fair to me. I signed a non-aggression pact. I didn't invade *any* territories that weren't neutral. I would like to ask Kojusoki to step in and explain that WSzaboPeter isn't allowed to invade those two territories just because he thinks they're too close.

He built a fortress on my border, does that mean I can invade it because *I* think that's an aggressive move on his part?

If WSzaboPeter is allowed to flaunt the rules of the game, and attack my territories even though we have a year long NAP, you'll have to find a replacement for me because I think that's completely unfair.

Non aggression means that you don't invade each other territories. That's the only meaning to it. Otherwise I should be able to invade your fortress because it's right on my border. That's fairly aggressive, building up an army directly on an allies' border.

Think your kinda shooting your own cause in the foot here jazzepi http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

How about you strike a fair bargain, he gets the province bordering his capital and you get some compensation, either in territory or otherwise.

Jazzepi
March 19th, 2007, 05:08 PM
My point is that "I get to arbitrarily decide what is aggressive" is ridiculous, and not the meaning of a NAP (Non-Aggression Pact). If he gets to just randomly decide that my expansion into neutral territory nearby his capital (lets make this clear, I don't even know where his capital is, I can't even see it on my map even with the conquered provinces). Then I should be able to be equally random/arbitrary in what I decide to be aggressive.

If he doesn't like what happened after he signed a pact, that's just *too bad*. This is a competitive game. I had to lose troops, and spend time/effort expanding into those territories. It's unfortunate for him that they happened to be nearby (not even adjacent) to his capital, which I can't see on the minimap. Honestly, there is plenty of territory west of me I *could* have expanded into just as easily. I simply picked east because if was a convenience to shore up my territory along a mountain range.

Now he suddenly wants a free ride into those territories just because of the fact that they're two spaces away from his capital? How many proviences are two spaces away from *my* capital? I counted, just to make my point: 15 provinces surround my capital 2 movements out. I think it's ludicrous to purport that somehow during a NAP I can lay claim to all of those territories without specifically stating it.

I would also like for Kojusoki to push back the turn hosting another 24 hours, or at least until this gets decided. I'm 99% positive if the turn hosts I'm going to come back to find the territory I had invaded.

Jazzepi

WSzaboPeter
March 19th, 2007, 05:29 PM
Okay. Please take a look at this picture and see how Jazzepi interprets truth.

I'm really sorry, but you would like to STOP other players game simply to solve something like a territory dispute? That is way unfair to other players.

I did not gave any attack orders this turn, but I think next turn I will set myself to AI. My forces are superior, and the only thing that keeps me from crushing you is the fact that I always obey the rules of the games, and for some reason this game had a rule that
someone can hide between a non agression pact and then invade... We both know that you are planning an offensive, maybe building a fort near my capital in this very minute, and I can't do a thing. That's why I will quit this game if this will not be solved.

Hmm, do any of those actually allow direct movement into your capital? If not then I'm switching sides to jazzepi's.

Okay, let's stop this discussion before it is converted to a flame. I told all I wanted to tell, and waiting for an answer. That's all.

Jazzepi, one more question: When does this non aggression pact thing ends? I would like to know the exact turn number please.

Kojusoki

hmmm first of all, I am NOT a judge...
second... in my and ONLY my opinion, Jazzepi doesnt break NAp as long as he takes INDEPENDENT provinces.
At least my definition of NAp is that each side doesnt ATTACK each others, but both can attack independent provinces - even at the same time, the same prov - so the battle occures.

What is even more, spyes can make unrest so high, that the province will revolt and become independent - and then, as an Independent one, can be rided (you know, peacekeeping forces:)

But I will tell once more - everything depends what your pact stands for. Probably even you both dont know http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif, I suggest to divide your NAP by 2 and that will be the amount of turns it expires. And the lovly war wil begin:)

Methel - maybe we sign a NAP too? It was a stupid idea riding your forests http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

First off, you should have never proposed a pact if you didn't understand the consequences of it which were that you aren't allowed to attack me if I don't invade your provinces. Now, I invaded some territory nearby yours that was neutral, and then you accuse me of "hiding behind a non-aggression pact". Well obviously, the point of a non aggression pact is that I can "hide behind it", just like you can "hide behind it". Right now the majority of my forces aren't anywhere near your border, they're out expanding in other places.

Secondly, everyone is *always* planning an offensive. If you aren't eventually planning on backstabbing your partners, you aren't playing to win. Sometime, in the future, because of the nature of the game you're going to have to attack people that were previously allies. I don't understand why you seem so surprised by this.

Third, and last, if you look at the above picture you can see a mountain range clearly between the neutral province I captured from neutrals and his capital. No province that I control, or captured, is next door to his capital. I could not see his capital when I took them, and did not know it was there. While the provinces that I hold are in a good strategic position, that's part of the reason I took them! So complaining that they put you in a bad position isn't a good point to argue why I shouldn't be allowed to have them!

I would just like to put a reminder out there that this is just a game! Being sneaky during diplomacy is part of the game, but I firmly believe that nothing I did was even a stretch of the NAP I signed in good faith.

I would consider causing unrest in someone else's province with a spy to be an attack in violation of a NAP. If you allow that, you are opening up a huge can of worms.

I think that ENFORCING the pacts is something that is not in according to the spirit of the game. I keep my end in contracts, but only if the other part behaves friendly. But in this game this rule is something that left me with two choices: a.) breaking them b.) leaving the game.
I have chosen the second one. I'm really sorry. Farewell.

Catquiet: I repeat once more - EVERYTHING depends what your NAP is about. Nothing more, nothing less. I've been playing that spies/assasins were allowed, but when they were cought, the attacked side were allowed to break NAP.

For the next 7 days I will not be answering emails/messages.

non-AGRESSION-pact. When a spy sneaks into your territory and causes damage, that is definitely an act of agression whether they are caught or not. The fact that you acknowledge that the NAP is broken if the spy is caught shows that you recognize Instill Uprising as an act of aggression.

And if getting caught is the litmus test, I could sign a NAP with Marignon banning hostile spells, then do repeated castings of Black Death on their capital.

1. Black Death is anonymous
2. They can't prove it was me
3. The NAP is still in force
4. I wonder if my good friend Marignon will let me borrow some death gems, I'm running low http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Did Marignon and the Neiflhem nation stale last turn? I was checking with 2 hours to go and they hadn't taken their turns yet. I'm just curious, because we should probably find a sub for them if we can, both nations are in important spots. Marignon especially.

The great God of T'ien Chi is interested in nature gems. She needs quite a few of them! If you wish, we are willing to for them 1-1 for just about any other gem. Send your requests via PM and we'll sort the details out later.

Can Kojusoki please take care of his game? Marignon is staling again, for like the 6th time. I'm really, really tired of waiting for him to stale every time so that we can move on. It's clear he's either abandoned the game, or can't get into it.
