Yes, I'll stop the clock.

We don't have a 5 turn NAP, when did I agree to that? The only agreement I recall was not to attack one another during our shared war with Caelum, not to an NAP. It was a long time ago but I recall at the time that I considered attacking you when I found out you'd stopped attacking Caelum (because we didn't have an NAP.)

There were also some negotiations over Patala, but again, I don't recall an NAP. Are you sure this was with me?

Edit: Evidently, these negotations are all in-game, but this is my recollection -

* I did *not* agree to an NAP, but only that I wouldn't attack Folket/Marignon if we both attacked Caelum (with no time limits or anything specified.)
* Folket took a bribe from Caelum not to attack him (and did not tell me.)
* I payed Marignon for some of those provinces in his northeast, but again, didn't agree to an NAP as far as I can recall.

Also, I never agree to 5 turn NAPs, only to 3 turn or 10 turn NAPs, so I think there must have been a miscommunication.

However, since I don't have any records, if Folket absolutely insists that there was an NAP, I'll back off for five turns.

*sigh* yeah that's what happens when you check your turn after coming home from the bar. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif I missed the +3 berserk bonus which made quite a difference in this case. Given my defense and protection that +3 to you attack and strength made it about 3 times more likely to hit (from ~20% to ~60%) and your average damage dealt go from -6, -6, 5, 5 to -3, -3, 8, 8. Still a pretty lucky couple rolls, but up in the realm of unlikely rather than ludicrous to deal > 42 damage in one turn. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I'm pretty sure we signed a NAP in the range of 3-5 turns DRPre just before i started my attack on patala. As you say it was a long time ago and its easy to forget for sure. Since you only sign 3 and 10 turn NAP, it was most likely a 3 turn NAP we agreed upon.

I accidentally uploaded a unfinished turn.

DrPraetorious, could you remove my 2h file?

DrPraetorious
July 9th, 2007, 10:10 AM
Okay, I'm *quite* sure that I didn't sign an NAP before the attack on Patala, because I resolved not to do so after you pulled out of the joint attack on Caelum.

You may have offered an NAP, and I did agree not to attack you while the war with Patala was ongoing, so that might have been a source of confusion, in which case my apologies, and I will twiddle my thums for three turns.

I'm confused again - which position is Folket now playing? You can just upload another while you're working, QH isn't on.

Folket is subbing for all of Evilhomer's games AFAIK.

Folket is playing Marignon - i'm not playing any nation, just forum lurking while on work...

I'm busy trying to get a grant resubmission in - for now, let's schedule a host for Thursday at noon?

Is that too late / too early for people?

Folket
July 9th, 2007, 01:35 PM
Thursday is fine by me.

Still I'm still at war with Patala.

I do not know what happened, all I know is that Evilhomer told me that we had a NAP when I took over for him.

It will be a pain but I will fight Then Chi. You do not have to hold back.

Not hosting until Thursday is fine. I've already played my turn, and I will be on a mini-vacation Wed-Fri. So I can play the next turn on the weekend.

I'm also at war with Patala (the first to go up against Patala before everyone else thought about joining in), and Marignon occasionally attacks the same provices I do (so far we're break even, each losing and winning the same amount). I mean there are 3 Patala provinces surrounded by Arco land and Marignon is trying to take them? He might have to watch what he's reaching for. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Thursday at noon is good for me.

DrPraetorious
July 12th, 2007, 12:09 PM
Okay, something weird is going on.

I'll host later today as soon as I figure out what is up. I backed everything up.

Seems like the server is down now.

DrPraetorious
July 13th, 2007, 12:14 PM
Yeah, there's a conflict between dominions 3 and something else I'm running for work, freezes things occasionally. At least that's what I think is going on.

Anyway I'll bring the server back up this afternoon at the latest. Sorry again for the delay.

DrPraetorious
July 13th, 2007, 05:51 PM
And we are go.

I'm going to move my server to one of my linux machines sooner or later, but question: when I do, will I be able to play from my windows machine, even though the keys will be the same?

Hosting server and a client can share the same key. The only problem is two or more clients sharing the same key.

Folket

When is the server going to host?

I find it easier to plan when to play when I know the schedule. Could someone turn on 72 hour hosting interval.

DrPraetorious
July 15th, 2007, 08:32 PM
Oh, sure. 72 hr hosting interval is now up, but there is no quick host.

I'm going to start playing from my laptop, so at least I won't lose my work if something crashes, which'll speed me up greatly.

Folket

Was not Utgård the first nation to crumble? Or perhaps second. I'm pretty sure they are no longer in the game.

DrPraetorious
July 18th, 2007, 05:49 PM
Utgard and Mictlan fell at roughly the same time.

DrPraetorious
July 19th, 2007, 02:40 AM
The game has hosted - next turn should be due in ~70hrs.

Folket
July 19th, 2007, 03:44 AM
I pointed out that Utgård is not listed as eliminated on the first post.

Folket

What happened? The game just did not host?

DrPraetorious
July 22nd, 2007, 11:33 AM
Two people were about to stale (Agartha and Ulm) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif, so I reset the timer.

Can people get their turns in today? No? Do you want me to set them to CPU, if not?

Once that happens it'd be nice if we could adhere to some kind of hosting schedule.

Folket
July 22nd, 2007, 01:51 PM
Well, I would prefer if this game did not continue forever. 72 hour hosting without QH is fair. Send them a message. If they have better thing to do then put them AI.

DrPraetorious
July 22nd, 2007, 06:00 PM
Okay, I'll check tomorrow morning. If they still haven't sent in their turns, I'll set them to AI.

Baalz
July 22nd, 2007, 08:20 PM
Sorry, my laptop died while I was out of town. I'm back now, so shouldn't be a problem going forward.

DrPraetorious
July 23rd, 2007, 12:47 PM
It's hosting now.

I need gems! I'm doing fairly well against Marignon, but my massive communions burn a lot of gems in combat. This is a good thing to do with Gems, since Marignon doesn't get them, but it costs a *lot* to put up every beneficial battlefield enchantment in every fight! I'm also doing some light forging, which isn't very gem intensive except that air gems are in such high demand to continuously replace all the communion slaves I lose (they need winged shoes to get to the front.)

So, I'll promise aid and services to whomever will send me gems to defeat Marignon.

Folket
July 24th, 2007, 01:59 PM
What happened to the timer? Let us use 72 without QH and if people are about to stale a second time we put them AI.

I will play my turn on friday.

DrPraetorious
July 24th, 2007, 02:46 PM
Oh, sorry. Had to reset for some more installs (frickin' TV tuner card) and forgot to reset the timer.

I'll be out of town when the next turn hosts (but should be back in time to play) so I may not be able to set people to AI.

Folket
July 26th, 2007, 05:15 AM
I got ill. High fever and can't sleep at night. But I do not feel good about letting someone sub for me this late into the game. I hope you can postpone the hosting till I feel better.

DrPraetorious
July 26th, 2007, 07:47 AM
I certainly can.

It is hard to get back after beeing away. The turn is a half finished so it will be finished tomorrow.

Folket
August 3rd, 2007, 05:49 PM
Let's get started everyone. My turn is uploaded. Let's hosts this and continue the game.

DrPraetorious
August 3rd, 2007, 11:15 PM
Okay, I've now set it up to host on Saturdays and Wendesdays at noon (EST). Is this acceptable to everyone?

Folket
August 4th, 2007, 03:49 AM
That should work.

DrPraetorious
August 4th, 2007, 02:56 PM
Argh! Machine just went down. Will be up again later tonight.

DrPraetorious
August 4th, 2007, 08:38 PM
I [censored] hate Bill Gates. Does anyone know why Win XP can corrupt it's own MBR when it uses a drive as swap space? GAH!

Okay, I've moved the game over to my laptop (I'm sure glad I bought that external HD enclosure.) The port # is the same but the IP address is now: 160.39.37.168.

I also update the root of the thread. Sorry for the delay.

DrPraetorious
August 7th, 2007, 10:30 PM
No-one has taken their turns. Are we still going?

Shmonk
August 7th, 2007, 11:25 PM
I didn't see the new IP address, so I thought the site was down still. But it seems this game is really slowing down now, so I could go either way, stopping or not. I would like to extend the hosting for an additional 24 hours, unless everyone else is fine with stopping.

DrPraetorious
August 8th, 2007, 12:01 AM
I'll extend for another 24 hours, but if people want to stop, we can. I just got a big infusion of gems from Ulm, so I can continue to try and stab Marignon in the eye, but I don't think he's going to run out of blood slaves any time soon.

Folket
August 8th, 2007, 07:48 AM
With Ulm AI I think this game is decided. Noone will be able to stop me from taking Abysia and Man, possibly even Ulm. I will then have 6 VP locations and will have 15 VPs in 5 turns. Then I doubt that you will be able to destroy me before I get 20 VPs.

I will make my turn now if someone wants to continue playing, but I would prefer to free up my time.

DrPraetorious
August 8th, 2007, 12:15 PM
I think I can take Caelum's VP from you, but not soon enough.

I'm willing to concede.

Shmonk
August 9th, 2007, 12:01 AM
Okay, I concede too. I could take a couple VPs from you, but might not be able to hold them long, and with your AN up it would be tough to hold on to anything. And with the delays we've been having lately I've lost some interest in this game.

Dr P, thanks for hosting!

Folket
August 9th, 2007, 02:01 PM
DrPraetorious, did you take the server down?

DrPraetorious
August 9th, 2007, 03:08 PM
Ah, yeah, I have to bring my laptop with me to practice http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

Do you want to take one last look before we're done? I'll put it back up tonight if you like.

Folket
August 10th, 2007, 01:57 PM
Do that and changed the topic so that it becomes more official that it is over.

DrPraetorious
August 10th, 2007, 02:31 PM
Okay, I'll restart the host tonight.

Congrats.

DrPraetorious
August 10th, 2007, 10:14 PM
Okay, the host is running on my laptop - IP address is 160.39.37.168.

I'll leave it up as long as people are curious.

Folket
August 11th, 2007, 01:54 AM
Thanks for hosting a game DrPraetorious.

And thanks to everyone else for playing.
