I'm going to go with Maverni. I was sorely tempted to take Kailasa since they are ... basically better in every possible way http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif But for some reason I just dig Marveni. I'm sure I will live to regret it.

I've also reserved Mictlan for Boron because he had to go to sleep and was insistent about playing it.

For no good reason I desire Agartha please.

I think there should be some small water perhaps. It did make for interesting strategy last game I admit.

FAJ and Mork there are definitely spots for you http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Mork: Aby is not open, no. Perhaps you could bargain with Teraswaerto for it tho?

Looks like we have a pretty solid player lineup. Everyone beging working on your pretenders. Do recall that its extremely dangerous to have a dormant/asleep pretender in this game! Some nations learned that the hard way http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Pencil me in for Caelum.

Ironhawk

Ironhawk
March 16th, 2007, 07:25 PM
Ok, I think we have more than enough players to call this game full. I was really pleasantly surprised at the response this got - we had 15 players in less than 12 hours of the thread going up! Should be a pretty rocking game.

I've set VP win requirement to 4VPs due to the number of players.

Everyone get to work on your pretenders, I will have the server up tonight and lets try and shoot for having all pretenders in by midnight on Sunday

mivayan
March 16th, 2007, 10:31 PM
I'm not in this game, but here's some random observations from the last.

A little production scale might be nice with just one castle and income from many provinces (150% prod and gold more or less cancel each other out).

Figure out how to rock the battlefield with mages. A SC pretender wont win the game alone.

I lost only three sages to my death3 scale during the whole game... it was over before late winter, year three. But perhaps I got lucky.

msew
March 17th, 2007, 12:01 AM
As abysia I lost most all of my sages near the middle end of the game.

I had death 2 scales

FAJ
March 17th, 2007, 12:11 AM
Burden of time enfluences that, no?

mivayan
March 17th, 2007, 01:02 AM
Yeah, but burden of time came after the second late winter age check. I think.

LoloMo
March 17th, 2007, 01:24 AM
Just to check, when you say double bless is restricted, does that mean you can't have 2 paths that are 4 or above?

mivayan
March 17th, 2007, 02:07 AM
It means you cant have two paths that are 9 or above. Fire9+Water9 is not okay. Fire9+water8+nature8 is okay but probably not worth it.

LoloMo
March 17th, 2007, 02:22 AM
Thanks! One more question, how much research does a sage produce? I'm looking through the unit stats and I can't seem to find the sage unit. What nation normally recruits it?

StrictlyRockers

mivayan
March 17th, 2007, 05:06 AM
LoloMo said:
nevermind, I found it, they have research 4 and astral 1 =)

Note that the 4 is their *bonus* compared to other mages with a single magic pick, each sage gives 7 research.

Ironhawk
March 17th, 2007, 05:49 AM
A good measure of sage research is this: With all your sages working together you will get to about level 4 in a single school before the cease-fire is up. That should give you a strong starting positin if you plan your strategy well.

As for attacks: it means attacks of any kind. You cannot attack other players or indy provs.

Rathar
March 17th, 2007, 05:51 AM
The peace for 3 turns means no attacks of any kind during the first 3 turns. Turn four is open to combats of all kinds.

I dont even know what it is? Does it cripple ermor? Do you want to switch to another nation?

quantum_mechani
March 19th, 2007, 05:15 PM
It's a small bug with CB 1.00, Ermor EA is missing one of thier minor mages. It's not really crippling but I can see why it would annoy someone playing the nation a lot.

No it does not. In fact it wouldn't really be possible to mod a general spell away from a particular nation without removeing it from almost every nation.

Ouch!

I have to agree with you there although if ( I havent played Ea Ermor cb or not) they are of only lvl 1 value it won't be a huge loss as they aren't able to cast site searching spells.

This game wont last long enough to empower I can tell you that!

Missing the first turn in a game like this isnt as bad as it might be in another game. You already have your starting provs and you can easily catch up in troop production due to all the gold and resources. The key loss is not getting to build a mage and do your research. The research is really rough given that we all have sages.

That said it is really disappointing to see someone stale in thier first turn of the game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

NEWS FLASH!!!

Pasha Babe, She Who Holds No Mirror, the Queen Witch Gorgon of the Pretenderate of United Sauromatia (P.U.S.), has authorized and directed the Great Witch King Council to spare no efforts to extinguish the Lankan Flame and rid the world of its fetid stench.

"It's simple and self-evident," said Nalaprezzor, 3rd Vice Witch Prince and Stamp Licker of P.U.S. "Lanka stinks! They intentionally and unjustifiably violated our sovereignty every time one of their foul demonic smoke clouds floated into our lands. Our people coughed! COUGHED!! We are grateful for Kailasa's partnership and are hopeful that this War of Lankan Aggression will end quickly. No doubt the Kailasan and Sauromatian troops will be welcomed as heroes."

It is a sad day for the people of Marverni as the Earth Gem Crisis of '07 continues to rage unchecked through that earth-loving land. Rationing of earth gems has failed to curtail the severe shortage and the Druidic Council has become seriously concerned! A very specific set of boosters- those IW forgot to bump up when they changed the rest of them for dom3. It's actually the last remnant of the attempt to diversify magic present in the early dom3 CB versions. But since by itself it doesn't do a lot I'm planning to remove it next version.

Yeah that battle went really poorly, but hey thats the way things go in capital assaults. The next attack will be far less rushed and far more deadly.

I have no doubt that the losses due to these spells has been greater but these losses are not publicized because of the fact that that is "sekret" info but I and no doubt others would love to hear some generalized stuff!

The agarthan's have had a Giant and his wolfpack kill off the PD of a region I had conquered and I had a demon slay off an indy commander plus some unrest but no horrors to speak of. Of course, we are all researching atm (hoping someone makes the bad mens go away, nod nod) so..

Those blood slaves could have been put to far better use.

Teraswaerto
April 17th, 2007, 06:07 PM
The effect of those enchantments is gradual. Since they use slaves and not gems they are very hard to dispel. I predict Niefelheim must be invaded and the caster killed, soon, if anyone other than Niefelheim wants any hope of winning.

Astral Corruption favors blood nations, and pretty much prevents new globals from being cast. Any nation that uses magic lots will suffer lots. Is there any nation that wont suffer at this point? Abysia has not invested much into blood, this global is not in our favor.

The Looming Hell makes it very hard to invade Niefelheim, as their lands have high dominion with heavy devil attacks.

Giants with bonus hit points? Come on, do I need to say more. Luckily, this can and must be dispelled. It is not a question of slaves vs gems, but gems vs gems.

The Nation of Pangaea will attempt to replace the Giant's Gift of Health with one of its own.

A few more horror attacks for me and another giant raid but the globals still seem somewhat weak. Last game Ermor cast 4 thematic globals and it was game over for us all. Shrug.

Nah, you underestimate your power, FAJ. My first attack on your capital clearly showed how brutal Shadow Blast / Clouds of Death are. Sending my men in without a plan would be committing suicide (twice!). http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Fear not, the assault crew is on the way.

As for the attack at the southern fort, that was a cheap shot to see if I could take it. If my mages hadnt run out of spell script they'd have killed all your sauro's and I'd have won. It was worth trying.

Lucky you, Im gonna be away for the weekend. I won;t ask for a pause of game because I have like, 2-3 provinces left.

Ill set myself AI after this turn.

Grrrrr, 2 of my best equipped mages just got eaten by horrors. That was a really costly dispel on the Gift of Health. Theoseus and Uranotheus, your sacrifices will not be in vain!

Vanheim is no more. Agartha has snuffed the final candle of the Vanir empire.

The king is dead! Long live the king!

Oh, heh look at that. Actually I lost because you *didnt* cast shadow blast in this case http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I put all my chaff out front and then your AI didnt kill them so they plugged up the gate trying to rout. Sigh. I'm done with this excuse for a war, im going to preach the rest of CTis out

For future games i request to not place capitols in forest provinces. I am defenseless vs. getting abused with beckoning.

34 units disappeared, among them a 101 blood expensive Onaqui http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif

Hm the game seems to have crashed when it tried to host after i submitted my turn http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif.
At least it seems i cannot connect anymore http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/fear.gif

Yeah its down. I got the "old version" crash message when I checked it this morning.

Boron, I removed your turn submission and the server was able to start again. Did you re-install and forget to upgrade to 3.06? The server is back up now. Make sure you have the right version and then re-do you turn.

Boron

Hm i have 3.07 test candidate, thought that patches are compatible downwards and only give slightly false battle replays worst case.

Ironhawk
April 23rd, 2007, 01:57 PM
That must be what it is. No, dominions 3 does this stupid thing where it crashes the server (not the client!!!) when there is a version mismatch. Apparently that was not fixed in the 3.07 client. Anyway, just use your old version - please dont try and connect with the new one now, I'm at work and will not be able to restart the server.

Boron

Ok installed a 3.06 copy. Sorry for all the trouble, seems my memory was either wrong or it was changed for Dom3. From old Dom2-times i remember that it worked to play e.g. a 2.12 game with a 2.14 patched Dom, it only lead to wrong battle replays sometimes.

Doing my turn now and everything should work again.

Ironhawk
April 23rd, 2007, 06:00 PM
Yeah in dom2 the versions were backwards compatible to some extent. But in dom3 they just crash the server. Really dont like that.

Aren't witches suppose to have a healing ability? Also any who died wanna try their hand at using Yomi? I have WoW and between that and exams, this game is seriously getting lackluster. The position's pretty easy to defend considering I have fortresses at almost every province (had no other real use since Yomi's troops are pretty poor) Not at war with anyone but message me before I submit this turn or post here!

Looks like Niefel giants make pretty pretty torches when you hit them with a Pillar of Fire. In other news, Soul Slay will kill even a Doom Horror with some luck.

Having the capital in a forest is supposed to be an advantage, because you get so many extra resources, and it automatically turns what is normally a low-income province into a very high income one. By the time you are facing beckoning, having your capital bombarded with artillery spells is just a fact of life. Would you rather have it on a coastline and get pelted with hurricanes? Beckoning is level 6, and at that same tech level, dome spells are available.

Oh yeah, I forget to add. Another note for whoever is subbing for me, the dai onis to the northern defenses are to be scripted with resist fire in their script as well. I'm not sure if they're already scripted with them or not. Too lazy to check. =\

We need a sub for Yomi. Anyone interested should PM me. Pass along the invite if you know a friend who might be up for it. I would hate to have a power vacuum at this point in the game.

Bah, Ironhawk! We should just let Yomi go AI. Then you and I and Kailasa can carve them up! Sort of like the Ottoman Empire after WW1.

Hahhahah! Yomi == The sick man of ManaBurn.

Sadly I cant even carve up the AI remains of CTis, I dont think I'm going to be much use against an ai Yomi
