Great info, where did you get that? I want more! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Err, with a hand-held launcher (they don't mention recoil, do they?) and a penetration of 236mm, it looks more like they are trying to replace the old RKG-3 antitank grenade series.
Looks much simpler, good potential for urban ambushes I'd say.

Does someone here decipher enough Chinese to tell us what the character in front of the -95 means? (apart from "Type-" of course)

Looks like a great replacement of Molotovs & stuff for Guerillas, etc -

I started a thread about China a few weeks ago to encourage people to collect data for improving the present OOB, but noone at all replied... now, there's still much secrecy around the Chinese military but there are good sources available as well - sinodefence, etc -

As a stop-gap measure for the next patch, I'd suggest to implement at least the most pressing issues, such as: including UAVs, some re-naming as I suggested, etc. - I'll check out Chinese military forums, of which there are plenty, but my military Chinese is practically non-existent, I have to translate almost everything character-wise, and the results are often relly confusing, if u know what I mean, so it's a pain...

not that i have any particular inclination of providing free input anymore, but to help PK and Shan with their great work:

new themobaric warhead for the RPG-7

From Jane's (abridged):

Designated the WPF 2004, the fin-stabilised rocket has a launch weight of 3.2 kg and becomes armed 35 m to 50 m from the launcher. Muzzle velocity is 89 m/s with an effective accurate range quoted as 200 m against a 0.45x0.45 m target.....

According to the manufacturer, no special training is required to use the WPF 2004 thermobaric rocket and no modifications are required to the launcher.

The new WPF 2004 can be launched from all standard and RPG-7-type unguided rocket launchers as well as the NORINCO 40 mm Type 69-1 anti-tank rocket launcher (ATRL).

1] Chinese weapon 240 is a infantry launched "thermobaric" rocket. Right now only para engineers have it. Perhaps this could be "issued" to other units as well

2] The Chinese OOB has approx 2 dozen unused weapon slots left. Russia has none.

3] The maximum number of weapon slots is not going to change . It CANNOT be increased without tearing the entire game apart and that's not going to happen.

4] It's all well and good to improve the OOB's but at this point in the games development people need to ask themselves what really needs to be added and what already exists that covers things "good enough". If that limitation can be accepted then that's great, we can move on. If not, the answer is obvious. We allowed the game to go to 2020 for "what if's" thinking, at the time that was done, that 2010 was too limiting. Obviously if the weapons slots cannot be increased then either we ignore that and make do with what we have or cap the game at some specific year earlier than 2020.

More info on the original subject here. (http://www.sinodefence.com/army/small_arms/type79rocket.asp)
Not sure there's much interest in it, maybe as main AT weapon in special airborne/jungle/mountain troops or to replace Soviet AT grenades in RPG teams.

It looks... well I am sure it does the job.
