The two misc. slots Dai Onis get when they turn into ghosts just doesn't cut it. /threads/images/Graemlins/Racoon.gif

Why would you need them to have item slots anyway?

Do they get more before?

Can you even equip mid-battle? They go back to normal afterwards, no?

no, if ghosted, they come out with only the items they had in those few itemslots they had prior.

so your re-formed body is mostly naked.

That does seem rude. You should ask Kristoffer to change that.

meanwhile we could just ask QM to fix it within CB

All of the oni spirits have only two misc slots. I did notice this when I was doing the unit list, but since it was across the board, I figured it was intended. Perhaps the spirit is able to only move small items (which is what most misc items are, things like rings and such). I imagine that when they get killed, all of the things they were carrying drop to the ground ala Obi-Wan Kenobi getting killed in Star Wars Episode IV.

The misc slots are probably the default for the units, since all units except the vastness have some slots.

We could ask the devs whether the spirit forms of the oni should have humanoid slots, but if so, then it needs to be all across the board.

i recall moose knights having the same slots when GoR'd... I think its just the default.

Default is actually humanoid and the troll moose knight has horseman slots (i.e. all but foot).

You had me excited there for a little while. I thought I must have accounted for another of your damned Dai Onis http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

They tough nuts when they are buffed up and fully equipped http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/Sick.gif I am extremely glad they drop all those nasty bits and pieces when they are finally ground down to spirit form http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Neat-o, thanks! I hope I can get the others to go along with it when I play my next game as Yomi. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

This would be a nice boost for Yomi, and not unthematic, when you consider that other ethereal undead (ghosts, spectres, etc.) have all their slots.

I don't think it would be too unbalancing. I find the ghost forms of all the Oni die quite quickly, and this would help a bit with the survivability of the expensive Dai Onis.

I'll see about the Oni Spirit numbers and post them in the bug thread as a potential issue. The burden of time issue looks so lonely all by itself in that post...

EDIT: Oni Spirit numbers are

1261 Oni Spirit (1260 Ko-Oni)
1263 Oni Spirit (1262 Oni)
1265 Oni Spirit (1264 Ao-Oni)
1267 Oni Spirit (1266 Aka-Oni)
1269 Oni Spirit (1268 Kuro-Oni)
1273 Oni Spirit (1272 Oni)
1275 Oni Spirit (1274 Kuro-Oni)
1277 Oni Spirit (1276 Oni General)
1317 Oni Spirit (1316 Dai Oni)

This is completely unrelated, but I just made another unit for my upcoming mod and he's somewhat Dai Oni-ish.

Attached is a preview pic of the Twisted Daimyo commander for Jomon, Broken Swords. He's half human, half oni.

Im just guessing that the units were created seperately and Kristoffer might not have considered that the change-form would cause it to drop items. He might not think it appropriate to change it (it was brought up long long ago with the dragon pretenders). But we can ask.

way i see it dragons turn into non-humanoid creatures. if something shaped vaguely like a human ghost can carry a barkskin pendant, and thus have woodlike ghost skin, then they should be able to carry a sword, and animate their armor just like black servants, spectres, and ghosts can.

anyay, I edited the onifix mod to include all forms of oni spirits.

It might be appropriate for an item to be 'lost' in some cases from a shapechange, but -- does anybody know if the items are vaporized, or whether they have the usual "battle loot" chance of being recovered by the winner?

Not vaporized.

For some reason, in a single player game I had an Arena winner that shapechanged into a hand-less form every combat. Perhaps a dragon pretender. It dropped the trident every combat, then found it again after winning the battle (and automatically changing back to human).

they do become battle loot. usually your ghost dai oni ends up running or dieing though. and if he does manage to win, he still only has a chance of finding that battle loot.
