No. This isn't a copy that I got from a "friend" who never gave me the manual. This is about me and my laptop. It's served well for me, at least until I built a new desktop. Naturally, I would want to install Dominions on the new rig. I already knew about copy protection, and plainly figured that uninstalling it from the laptop (online) would free the key. Well, that didn't happen.

So I'm wondering what I did wrong. Did I not clean up properly? Is the key forever stuck to one machine?

Hopefully someone can help me out on this. This CD was too damn expensive to be used as a coaster now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

The key lives in a little file in your dominions3 directory. It is called "key". This doesn't matter, though; there is no concept of freeing the key (the key is checked against a known list of compromised keys, and is checked against everyone else's key in a multiplayer game when you play multiplayer). Install from your CD onto your new computer, and you will be fine.
