Hello - As an ASL fan this game is cool. I am just starting with it. I cannot load the Kommander unit A0 into the halftrack E3. All other units can load fine. I am on v2.0-DL. Any help appreciated

I just tested this and unit A0 loaded into halftrack E3 just fine on my copy of the game. The E3 HT has a carry capacity of 13 and the HQ unit is only 6 men

Does anyone else have this problem ??

HQ/commander units have never loaded into vehicles for me, in WinSPWW2 or WinSPMBT. I thought this was some feature I didn't fully understand.

OK, in all the time this game has been out nobody has ever reported anything like this before( And I have never personally experienced this problem or anything like it ) so I need to ask some questions

1] Did they load for you in the DOS version ?

2] Are you 100% certain that the HQ unit you tried to load would actually fit into the vehicle you were trying to load it into ?

3] Does this happen at the deployment portion of the game or all the way through the game ?

4] At deployment, try this.....take a full infantry unit, load it into a vehicle, UN-load it from the vehicle then try to load the HQ instead . Does it refuse to load

5] If yes, attach a save game of the test you tried to run

It doesn't really bother me, to be honest, but I'm happy to oblige --

1. No idea. I have SPWW2 somewhere but never played with it much.
2. Only tried in the tutorial scenarios, which have the proper carrying capacity matched. I vaguely recall a commander in a jeep(?) working fine in another scenario though...
3. Any turn.
4. The tutorials don't have a deployment phase in my installs (latest DL patches, or in any previous versions). I tried this anyway in my first couple of turns, and it still doesn't load.
5. Attached.

The other halftracks load fine when I say "load entire platoon", and they load fine when I do them individually. I just figured I was being stupid.

I just created a long camp, and loaded the A0 (men 6) on a Pz IVb (carry cap of 13) with no problems (during setup).

Just went to the tutorial and loaded the A0 on a Tiger, no issues, he loads fine.

???

Whats your issue?

Just tried your attached save and it works fine. No problem loading the A0.
Could you perhaps tell us exactly what you do when it fails for you? So every single step you take and what button or key you use (keyboard or mouse for example at each step) so we can see if there might be something you're doing different?

Hmmm.. this may be the problem. The HQ isn't a platoon and doesn't use that function.

I tried your save game and the AO loaded OK for me. Here is the procedure I used

1- click on the HT
2- Press "L"
3-click on the A0 and it loads

The procedure will also work the same in reverse

1- click on the A0
2- Press "L"
3-click on the HT and the HQ loads

This may seem odd to some that this could be an issue but we discovered after the patch was released that some people could not delete units after buying them in campaign buys. It only affects a few people but we have a fix for it in the mini patch that will be released at the end of April. So, the fact we have two people who appear to have loading issues with the game is something worth investigating but we need to eliminate any chance this may be simply an unfamiliarity with the game.

This is the last thing I'm posting because I don't want to waste your time, but I do PRECISELY this!

Re-read what I wrote --

Doing it one by one, being in the same hex and either clicking first on the halftrack or the HQ unit, hit L for load menu, hit L again (or clicking the corresponding GUI buttons) does not work for the HQ units but does work for other units.

It really doesn't bother me.

I was finaly able to reproduce it!
Open game (A0 automatically selected at start); press L; press L again. A0 won't load.
Change to unit E2; press L; press L again; E2 will load into E4.
Same if you click on the button on the right side twice. The A0 will load if you use the mouse to click on the HT after the first L command instead of giving a second L command.

The L-D and L-L sequences only apply to units of the same platoon.

The A0 unit is not in any platoon other than itself. E is a mech platoon, but the A0 unit is co-located with an E platoon half-track. So the E platoon infantry (those that are in the same hex as E platoon transports) can load using L-D and L-L.

A0 can only load into a transport the usual way - it has no transport units of the same platoon in the same hex.

Hello All - I am able to load A0 into E3 when I click E3 then L then the A0 unit. This also works in reverse in that I can load when I click on the A0 unit then L then the E3.

This works differently than the other squads that load when I click on the squad or the HT then L then L. I'm a little embarrased but at this point I am assuming there is a quality about the A0 unit that makes it behave this way.

Yes as Andy explained it's not a PLATOON. It's a single unit answerable to no one but itself and therefore must be loaded individually.
