Has anyone else noticed that while under siege you cannot annoint a prophet who is in the castle being sieged?

This IMHO doe not make much sence. Is it a bug or WAD?

Maybe you cant be declared a prophet unless you have all the people in the province to witness? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I have thought of alot or roleplaying reasons but none hold up.

I thought that maybe you have to make a pligramage to a holy site ( the capital) but of course you cannot annoint even if your under siege in your own capital. so that doe not work. I dont know. It seems like a bug, or rather something that was left out.

It makes perfect sense to me. Imagine your future prophet standing on a podium before a large crowd, or wandering through the streets of a besieged city, promising salvation while rocks are flying down. It is like the saying, "there are no atheists in foxholes."

What BETTER time to anoint a prophet?

My point exactly. To me it seems like a bug.

I agree, should be allowed. Seems like an oversight.

I dunno, seems okay to me. I expect it would pretty tough to communicate with somebody under seige inside a castle.

Although, if you are trapped within your castle how do you let your entire nation(and the world) know who your new prophet is?

You send out a bunch of messengers. Just like you can still send messages when you are under siege. They've got a little white flag taped to their hats and no-one attacks them http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

When it comes to holy wars i dont think little white flags will do the trick http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I think you can justify it either way from a theme/RP/realism perspective. From a gameplan perspective I think it should be allowed though.

I think people knowing about the prophet is a an effect of being a given special powers of the prophet, and being known is not a prerequisite for being a prophet. So I dont believe the entire nation would have to be told about the annointing. Furthermore if that where true then when your provinces are cut off from one another you would not be able to annoint a prophet either, but clearly no one would argue for such a rule.

My home province is under siege. When my slumbering god arrives, will he appear in my castle, or have to fight his way in? If it's the latter, he's doomed. Thanks, DB

Your God will appear in your castle. Just like heroes when they arrive.
