View Full Version : Early game use of Succubus

I've done some searching on Succubus, and found some useful tips, but it seems like many of them have to do with high end equipment. Anyone have any pointers to offer on using a succubus in early game?

I'm thinking cat charm and skull talisman, but eye of the void also looks tempting. Thing is, if I go w/ eye of the void and cat charm, then I have used up my 2 misc slots, and it seems better to have summoning item than the penetration.

Any tips are much appreciated!

You might also consider magic focus and protection against missles. Or maybe bark skin amulet. Missiles can be bad for them.

Also luck cant be overlooked. There is a luck sword which wont use up a misc slot. I also like the one-hand weapon that has alot of parry on it.

Some shields can help also. Such as the vine one that will hold them for you. or the luck shield.

I saw that elsewhere, and I haven't tried that out yet, but it's surprising to me that that's better than an item that allows summons. So a single water elemental is better than a stream of longdead?

I would say that the single water elemental would be better than 1 longdead per turn but taking a skull talisman, bottle of living water and lucky coin should work.

Bottle of living water is constr 6, so that'll have to wait a bit.

Also though, I was thinking the cat charm was going to help the seduction chance, which is the main point anyhow. Anybody have any idea of how helpful the cat charm is? I was wondering if the MR reduction of the eye of the void might be more helpful anyhow.

I never knew cat charm helped. I know theres the whole more femenine thing but does it actually help?

Does the MR reduction offered by items even help the succubus attempt?

Ive been putting it on Ozeidas or whatever that Arcos unit is. Maybe not the same but Im not sure if anyone has tested it. But I would think that a case could be built succubus atack being magical based.

I never saw any confirmation on this rumor so I think that it's just a legend. Have a look at this Dom2 thread: http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Number=271358

This reply by Kristoffer O indicates that it doesn't help a unit to seduce, but only against being seduced:

When I was splashing out on items I'd equip them with a bottle of living water, wand of the phoenix and boots of quickness, as well as a few defensive items.

A subbubus with a lucky coin(safety), skullface(skelespam), bottle of living water and lifelong protection is a very nasty assasin/seductress.

A Skull Earing is generally good enough to kill just about anything human or humanish, but more serious combatants won't be beaten by anything less than a powerful mage. That means that a big investment of items is generally not worth the time.

On a related note, in a SP game I once came across an indie province with Phantasmal Warriors. Curious, I sent in a seducer and got Boliver Wise, an Air 6 Illusionist!

Try to get quickness on there as well, so you can skelespam 10 skeles a combat round instead of 5. Reinvig's good as well, if you can get reinvig. 8 over 50 rounds you can skele spam 500 skeletons. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

While quickness on a mage worked well in Dominions II, I believe that in
this version of the game, it works a bit differently. It's fine if you
expect to slug it out in hand to hand, but I do not think it speeds up
casting at all.

It does speed up casting through items. A W9 Helkarl with a Staff of Corrosion, for instance, does 3 bolts in 2 rounds.

It does on any spells cast by magic items.
