I'm trying to setup a server game on my windows pc, but I don't know what port number to put in. It lists the ports as 1024-65535. I have tried several ones and even went to the TCP/IP properties and added a port.. but I don't know if that is even the right way to do it. Neither of us can connect if we both try and start a server. I do plan on keeping it running 24/7. Also my friend and I both turned our firewalls off.
Any help would be great.

A port is just a virtual address. So just pick a number in that range and when you start a game give it that port number. In order to connect to that game the other player must supply the IP Address AND the port number you chose.

If you are using dsl, be aware that some modems also have a firewall.

and see if the IP address it sees, is the same as you have been trying to send people to. Many people are confusing the internal network address with their external internet IP.
