So, having thought about it a bit, here's the best way of doing things: ALWAYS take your turns using the old version if you can. Even if the server has upgraded you should send it your turn using v3.06. Once you get a new turn back that's been generated using v3.08 you'll have no choice but to use v3.08, as v3.06 won't open the turn. So:
- Try to take your turn using v3.06. If you can, that's good.
- If it won't work, use v3.08.
I'm fairly sure this is foolproof.
