Anybody notice what a huge difference the 3.08 patch made to the spell Swarm. Those little buggers are lethal now!

now it's an extremely good spell for 1 gem. Used it to wack pan water-blessed centaurs. good times.

In a sp game I had about 3 commanders taken out by bug bites!

I tried to test it, and my opponent cast Storm. Let me tell you, those things are hilarious on foot, with their 2 AP movement rate...

Don't forget to cast Haunted Forest, too.

"In a sp game I had about 3 commanders taken out by bug bites! "

Seems like a pretty powerful spell for 1 gem. flying horde that can swarm even high def creatures. Yeah for the nature line!

Will force a lot more bodyguards and creative commander hiding b/c they can zip to the rear pretty quicly.

Taqwus, What happened to your pic? Its gone... Just a little red x. very sad.

the AI did cast swarm several times, so it was not just one cast that killed 3 commanders.

Ah, maybe size limits changed or are just now being enforced. Resized. :p

Swarm was a usefull spell before, i am not sure if it needed the boost. But making those little guys lethal is a lot more fun. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Well it was kind of silly that they couldn't do any damage at all before.

But its just as silly to see them kill heavily armored units. "We dragonflies laugh at your 20 protection!Ha!"

Not only could they not do damage, but in certain situations they could cause the battle to run 75 turns because they could not damage the enemy and the enemy may be over fatigued.

I dunno.

Mighty warriors could get stung by bees to death.

"Lessee... High prot - check, def through the roof - check, all resistances at 100 - check, quickness - check, mistform - ch... Whatthe?! Pesky buggers! Get off! Ouch, that smarts! Ouch! OUCH!!! Nooo, this can't be!! I'm invincible!!!" *dies*

Fitting end, IMO. Brought to you by that average nature mage.

Fire Shield. See, there is a solution to everything.

Besides, with the possible exception of maggots, I can not recall nature having access to any anti-SC spells before swarm was made better.

Swarm was not made better, it's working as intended now, at last.

But it had to be made better to work as intended... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Huh? Got to have a look at them again. Ah. Nasty. And cool.

1 str, 0 damage bite, max 1 damage, armor negating - the damage roll should average 0.54 damage it seems.

Attack skill 15. 6 flies per tile. -2 def per attacker, 5-6 tiles filled with flies against a lone SC... ouch.
Defence skill 12 and length0 bite so half a dozen will die to repell every turn against an SC, but not everyone because there's a -2 penalty for each repell attempt in a round. Wonder if a fly that dies to repell still deals damage.

iirc in dom2 there was no 1 damage max restriction, but they were not armor negating either. might remember wrong though.

AN seems a bit too much. The swarm should really only ignore actual armour. A swarm shouldn't have any effect on an elephant, or a golem, or any other creature with a thick or non-fleshy hide. Oh well, I suppose they are some sort of magic bugs.

They are listed as magical beings http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I don't really think Swarm is as super powerful as you guys seem to think. I suggest we ask PAR and Foodstamp though, as they have been on the receiving end of it many times.

They do AN damage now? That does seem like a bit much. At the least it will cause a lot of morale checks

It's definitely more powerful than before. It probably needs to be brought in line a little bit, but not through reducing the effectiveness of the bugs. I would rather they adjusted the fatigue cost or maybe raise the gem cost 1 gem.

In it's current form it seems more powerful than skeleton spam, but I don't think it is game breaking by any stretch of the imagination. Besides, Helheim does not have access to nature MWahahhahaha.
