Dom3 DB has been updated to reflect the changes in version 3.08.

This version of the DB has EVERYTHING in it. Units, weapons, armor, items, forts, poptypes, magic sites, the works. Easier to have it all in one place instead of in separate files too.

The new version has updated data on all of the things that were on the shortlist and were marked green, as well as having some things fixed that were not right in the earlier version. The old age value is also calculated correctly. Those who feel like tempting fate are free to check the formula used to do so. I disavow any responsibility for any possible resultant insanity, however.

Attachemnts don't seem to work, so I will upload the file to my webspace. Link to follow.

First of all thanks for your effort

I just registered though i lurk the forum since 2 years or so http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Just wanted to report a bug.. i think

Opening the file with Excel 2007 it gives an error 'File error, you may have a loss of data' , the file open anyway but some tab are empty.

In particular those tab don't have data
Nations - Independents - Summon - Uniques.

I tried it on my laptop with office 2003 and i have the same error.

It may be related to the fact i have the localized italian version of office installed ?

I tried also on my laptop using Open office 2.2 in my Ubuntu installationm and other than taking ages to load up it works without any error but still there is no data in Nations - Independents - Summon - Uniques

Did i miss something? are they supposed to be empty ?

Thanks!

Fabio

It's not the Italian version of Office. Those tabs are supposed to be empty. I originally intended to put a lot of stuff there and I may do so at some point, but not quite yet. One of the reasons I left them empty was that when I noticed just how big the file was getting, I had to start considering factors that would reduce file size.

Sorry about that.

Not going to happen. I like to keep control of the DB so that there won't be a dozen different versions of it out there.

Heh heh. As long as there is "wiggle room" in that statement, Edi.

Um...what's a DB?

...of unit properties, for instance.

Handy, because there's no other public compendium of the same information. On the other hand, if you're more of an explorer who doesn't want spoilers, don't read it. :p

DB is an acronym for database. Dom3DB is shorthand for Dominions 3 Database, which is the title of the compendium of units, weapons, armor, magic sites, population types, castles, items and what have you that are included in Dom3, all listed in a spreadsheet file.

The Dom3DB has its roots in its less illustrious predecessor, the Dom2DB, which I assembled because I needed unit lists for mapmaking and included the weapons and armor lists for good measure. It was rather popular with modders too, despite its numerous flaws. I knew I was going to want one for Dom3 as well, so that was the first thing I set out to do when I got my hands on the game, and because I knew it would see extensive use among modders and mapmakers here. I combined it with the originally separate magic site list which has even deeper roots in a document originally made for Dominions - Priests, Prophets and Pretenders and which was compiled by Sunray.

id# 389, Fire Lord, is listed without magic, but he has 2F.

Thanks. I'll rectify that when I get home. There might be other similar errors, so if you spot any, please tell me. I know there was in the 3.06 version with Kokythiad, Tomb Oracle and something else that I caught myself.

Not sure what you mean by CD key not working. This is not something that is inside the game. Its for viewing outside of the game. The key should not matter.

Did you download the database?
Did you unzip it?
Did you try to open it?

Or do you mean that the Dom3 game has stopped working right for you because of your CD key? Where did you buy your Dom3?

Did not unzip it.

Clicked on...........

Never Mind. I went back and looked again and it turns out it is microsoft office asking for a key. I have never used office before and when it asked for a key I did not read well thus grabbed my Dom manual making me look stupid now.

I don't suppose you would come out in a txt format as I will probably never waste the time and/or money it would take to get a number.
