Random nations, folks. Read the game info, please.

I installed the CB mod 1.1, it has separate sections for pretenders, items, scales, nations, spells. We will be using all of these, correct?

johnarryn

Correct.

Probably a dumb question, but do we just need to have the mods turned on when we create our pretenders? Or do we need to have them on everytime we do our turns?

johnarryn
June 21st, 2007, 02:23 PM
Both, I believe.

Lazy_Perfectionist
June 21st, 2007, 06:22 PM
Sort of. You need it on when you create a pretender, since CB does some dramatic tweaks to say, the Father of Frost.

But I believe that the game will automatically load the appropriate mods each time you continue the game. Even with CB on, I have no problem playing in Jaguar (blessing hotfix, worthy heroes, no CB).

I finally got setup in that second game. I'm interested in joining this one, too, if you're not about to start. If I won't have a day or two to create a pretender, I'll pass on this game with its random nations. I'm not familiar enough with cb to design a pretender right off the bat, and I don't want to hold anyone else up.

llamabeast has been kind enough to offer us the use of his automated PBEM server in conducting our game.

He will be posting about how to send in your turns to the server, which will automatically host when all turn are in. You will also be able to check the status of each turn and see who has submitted their turn. I will still have administrator privileges in the game to make sure things run smoothly.

More information will follow as soon as all pretenders are in.

Heya. I've just started an FAQ (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showthreaded.php?Number=531118) for the LlamaServer, and have done the bit which tells you how to send your turns in once the game starts. If you guys have played PBEM before it's overkill - basically you just do what you normally do, but just use the address that the first turn comes from.

The website's www.llamaserver.net (http://www.llamaserver.net) by the way. It's worth looking at I think.

This will makes things a lot easier. Reminds me of VGA planets PBEMing.
Thanks llamabeast.

Okay, the game is started! Sorry about the small delay.

The first turn has 48 hours on the clock in case of problems. Subsequent turns will be on 24 hours, unless/until johnarryn changes it.

Just e-mail back your 2h files to the address you got the trn file from.

Don't forget to check the website - www.llamaserver.net (http://www.llamaserver.net) .

Cheers!

ok, I had the turn resent, and used it, but it still doesn't work. It just keeps booting me back to desktop. My other games are working so far, and I'm using the same computer I have been using before. Any ideas?

I reinstalled the CBM 1.1 mod, but it still is not working. So far, my other games are all working fine.

Not sure if this makes a difference, but there it looks like there are two different versions of the CB mod. Version A has the entire mod in one package, while version B has the mod split up into multiple packages (spell mod, item mod, etc.) I'm using version B (the multi-package version) since I ran into problems with version A. Maybe try switching versions, if you are not already on version B?

I'm back in business! It appears that there was a conflict with another game using modified CBM mod. The fix was to manually select the original CBM 1.1 mod before loading the game. Thanks to Johnarryn for that suggestion!

All hope is lost. With the vast hordes of atlantis in front of us and Patala biting our tentacled behinds, there is no other option but loss. The world will never see the beatiful dream from the void.

The early war with atlantis was my downfall. I looked up LA atlantis's troops and they seemed sucky enough underwater, thought I could win easily with Crab Hybrids. I just couldn't see those Shamblers hordes coming up. Well, me and Atlantis had couple of nice epic showdowns. I'll be soon putting myself to AI.

Had fun, thanks for all parties involed.

LoloMo
August 2nd, 2007, 04:51 AM
It was a well fought war, R'lyeh. My guess is that if you had time to build up research, things would have turned out quite differently. Those farstrikes hurt! The shamblers were a lucky find, though if I didn't have the income advantage, they wouldn't have been of much use.

Good luck and see you again in another game soon.

Those Mictlani have a shifty look about them...

AdmiralZhao
August 19th, 2007, 02:45 AM
It turns out that my last post was only too accurate. Mictlan has broken a 40 turn NAP in order to launch a surprise attack against my peaceful empire. They were abetted by the cruel (but foolish!) C'tissians, who met my offers of a NAP with a wave of Imprint Souls, followed by a general advance along all fronts.

Fortunately, the forces of freedom fought back fiercely, and the invaders met with several marked defeats. The largest invading army, led by the C'tis prophet, was encircled and completely destroyed. In the end even his own troops turned against him as they realized he had led them to certain death. News of this disaster has sent enemy morale plummeting, so that desertion and back-talk is rampant in the lizard ranks. In one notable case, an army of over 100 C'tis soldiers fled from a single lesser horror. Even now the tide is turning against the lizard hordes. Midgaard has activated its second-strike capability, and is launching thugs from their protective domes deep into the enemy's agricultural and industrial centers.

As for the backward Mictlani, they are still fighting the last war, where massed jaguar charges were the order of the day. Next month our forces will head out to meet them, and demonstrate the latest in combined-magics battlefield theory.

LoloMo
August 19th, 2007, 05:58 AM
And so the last wars will be fought as the Behemoth Midgaard rises to claim the world. The Atlantians will fight against this power. NAP with the Midgard is hereby terminated. You have 3 turns before we claim all of the seas and your coastal fortresses.

AdmiralZhao
August 22nd, 2007, 02:06 AM
I bring good news to the Alliance! Midgaard is now accepting pre-applications for surrender. Don't delay! The first accepted applicant will receive a cushy slot in Purgatory, while those who wait to do their essays will probably end up in Tartarus U.

LoloMo
August 23rd, 2007, 11:06 AM
Errmm, seems like only Atlantis and Patala are left to fight Midgaard, and I belive Patala has been staling for a while? There's a thread where gameextremist was looking for a sub, and it seems that he didn't find one for this game.

If it's only me against Midgaard, then I'll have to concede as I'm at best playing only a supporting role.

AdmiralZhao
August 23rd, 2007, 08:26 PM
I'm actively fighting Ctis, Atlantis, and Mictlan. As of last turn they had ~15, ~25, and ~35 provinces, respectively. I haven't counted provinces for this turn, but on average they are losing 2-3 per nation per turn. Really, it is a hopeless case.

Patala and Ulm are both out of it entirely. Ulm has one castle left, which is being sieged by Patala, which in turn has one province left, which is being sieged by me.

AdmiralZhao
August 23rd, 2007, 08:37 PM
Ok, I retract that last statement. It looks like Mictlan and Ctis both went AI last turn. So, yes, it is just Atlantis now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Excellent! Thanks for sticking in the game and sticking by your word on the NAP. The culture of the Atlanteans shall be preserved forever, pristine beneath the ocean ice. The future generations of Midgaard will look upon them to learn the meaning of courage and honor.

Good game everyone, even the dirty NAP-breakers among you. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

AdmiralZhao
August 28th, 2007, 06:48 PM
Yes, I was the source of all your problems from about turn ~40 onwards. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I would have attacked you directly, but I was hoping to use Plague + Raven Feast + Lichcraft to convert all my enemy's population into death gems and liches. Unfortunately, it takes a full month for the plague to take effect, so the unburied corpses in a province are reduced before you can cast the Raved Feast on the province and collect your gems. This means that rather than getting a net ~15 gems per casting, you only get a net ~4 or so. So much for my geometrically growing army of liches. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
