As great a game as Dominions is, there are definitely times when it makes you gnash your teeth. Fireball apparently causes fatigue damage if it hits near you. My rather large communion was just killed because after breaking the enemy they started tossing fireballs at the routing foes. A fireball landed next to one of them knocking his fatigue up over 100, at a range of about 25. Fireballs rained down all around him - but at that range nobody could manage to put him out of his misery though enough landed near to keep him unconscious and just a tempting target. 10 rounds later all my communion slaves are dead from trying to take out that last PD. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Sorry Baalz, but thats really funny...its also why I cast 5 spells with a communion and then have them all retreat.

I could see how that would be annoying

It does paint a funny picture.. The Communion Masters pride was on the line and he had to prove he could hit him with a fireball even at 3 football yards distance..

Fireballs cause fatigue damage? This is new to me. Anyone verify/know how much?

That is a hilarious classic! It'd be even more funny if your troops were also running to finish off the unconscious guy, but were also getting nailed by the fireballs... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

It sure does in an area around the direct hit. Same with thunderstrike and perhaps some other spells.

I knew about thunderstrike, but not fireball. Great news, given my number of anathemant salamnders in my current game.

That *was* the reason my communion was unsupported...the linebackers broke from collateral damage the turn before. I didn't mind losing them though...until I realize that a single guy with a dagger could have walked over and ended it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Ahhhh, I remember my first communion. I also wished that a single guy with a dagger would have walked over and ended it. This painstaking attention to detail only goes to prove how immersive the Dom3 experience is.
