I was playing a game of ME marignon today, and on about turn 50 or so, I get two forces of flagellants and friars (about 30 flagellants and 4 friars each) attacking two random ermor provinces on the other side of the map. Any idea what may have caused this? Is there a random event, sort of equivalent to the ermorian cultist attack, that causes the might of the inquisition to be brought upon, ummm, the legions of _living_ ermorian provinces?

I've heard about similar nation-specific random events occurring with spontaneously-generated Pangaean forces too. They're rare, but they're out there.

Any thoughts as to if this is purely random?, or would a Fortune-Scale increase the odds? If its all the way across the map, it couldn't be a result of your dominion then.

My understanding is that the fortune scale in any particular province increases the chance of good events in that province, but your fortune pick *also* gives some base chance of empire-wide events. For example, I understand that you have a 3% + fortune scale chance each turn of acquiring a hero. It could be one of those empire-wide events.
I wouldn't know, though, because I always play with misfortune 3. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Actually it's a bad event for ermor IIRC. So your scales have nothing to do with it. Blame ermor for taking such lousy scales http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
