View Full Version : Generated Maps, Labels, and Max ZoomOut

Hello Guys,

I am not a frequent poster but I am encountering a problem which is forcing me to bring to your attention. I hope you can help.

It seems that when I design scenario maps from generated maps, I am unable to see map labels at maximum zoom out in higher resolution settings. The only way I can see the text in all quadrants of the map is by lowering the game res settings to the lowest setting (640 x 480). Windoed mode or full screen mode don't seem to have any effect on the issue.

I've been able to reproduce this on multiple computers.

Adjusting the GDI/DirectX settings doesn't make a difference.

This probably isn't a huge deal, but being able to see text at max zoom is a nice thing to have, especially on larger maps.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Christian

Which higher resolution settings are you having trouble with and what size are the maps.

Don,

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm noticing the issue at 1600 x 1280 where no text shows at maximum zoom-out. This is generally the resolution I play and edit at. My map is 60 x 90 in size.

I am able to see more and more of the text strings at max zoom out as I drop resolution levels. Finally, by the time I reach 640 x 480 I am able to all text strings at max zoom out.

The issue seems to appear only at maximum zoom using generated maps. Maps created from scratch do not seem to have this issue.

I can send you the map if you would like to see for yourself. Let me know if you need it.

Thanks

Christian

My preliminary test showed it happening only on smaller maps and 60x60 was the cut off point I found. Above that the text stayed on the map on maximum zoom out but under 70 it disapeared and that was with a map made in the game editor.

We'll look into it in more detail in the fall
