Does anyone know the levels of horror marking and their corresponding severity? I just horror marked someone's God 18 times via the spell, and I'm just curious if that's going to bring on Doom horrors or not ;P

I can share that I horror marked EA Abysia's pretender dragon in perpetuality about 20 times in one battle, and about 5 or so turns later, he was gone.

Ouch. Would love to hear from the other player on this one.

My god in Sophistry has had 4 horror marks for about 10 turns now without any horrors showing up.

I can safely say that I have had forty-odd mages horror marked by lightness lanterns, and over a 100 turn game, not one was attacked. Horror marks from items don't seem that bad really, though the artifacts do seem to attract lesser horrors. Usually not a problem for people carrying artifacts though.

The light item-horror marks could still be bad if you're a blood nation, 'cause then you couldn't safely summon horrors in battle (though I have no idea how common battle-summoned horrors are anyway) with those mages.

It was quite awhile ago so my memory is fuzzy, but I horror marked a Risen Oracle who was high in the Hall of Fame about five times. About half a year to a year later Umor showed up. The pretender didn't make it past the first round of attacks.

If your pretender can cast banefire, he need fear no horrors.
I had a pretender kill a horror with 1 cast of banefire before.

Right up until that dude with the +7 blood vengeance appears and shoves the bane fire right back up your poop shoot.

The only thing I've found to be consistently effective against doom horrors is banish to inferno/cocytos.

well, we will see. My pretender in Alpaca, Gorgon has 33 mr and luck. She has not faced any 7 vengeance horrors yet though.

She also has Mage Bane, and is in dom 10. May be a good fight. She has other items as well, but since that game is still ongoing.....

But if a horror kills her i will let you know.

She might get hit by 4 automatic armor negating hits with 45 str http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Hmm maybe i will set her to attack 1st then. 1 hit with mage bane and horror is out like a light!

Sounds viable.

Unless you get hit with umor and his multiple forms - that could be trouble.

I seem to remember it says that Horror Marks are permanent. If an immortal or Pretender is killed, do they keep horror marks when they are reborn?

yes

The problem with this is that unless your pretender/SC has flight it will simply advance but not actually attack for it's first action. Whereas the Horror will engage and attack simultaneously. I.e. it is very likely that the Horror will get the first shot(s).

I just assumed winged shoes when he mentioned that. Fatigue is lost upon changing forms, correct? If so then even after killing one of his forms Umor may eat the gorgon alive http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

Gorgons can fly!

Easiest thing i've seen so far to deal with horrors is banish to inferno. Granted, it gets rid of just about anything.

Sorry Xietor, I missed the gorgon part. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/redface.gif

I was thinking in more general terms I guess.
