Hi everyone

I'm thinking about to start a new PBEM game in the early age, as i have no server, it would be a very traditionally handhosted game (but i would not decline, if someone would have a server to use http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif)

The Map will Cradle of Dominion (fixed).

I will be playing Kailasa. (i suppose there would be no agreement on banning ranged weapons http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I will start the game, if there are at least 10 participants, but i would have no problem with a full house either.

About the Rules:

Everything will be normal, with the exception that the Hall of Fame will be sized 15.

Mods:
I will use Velusions Big game Mod:
That means Arcane nexus will be very expensive, and also gem producing items will have a higher price.
Link (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=527829&page=0&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1)
Worthy Heroes Mod will be used also.

Pace:
The game will move 1 turn a day until at least turn 18 (with maybe some sluggishness because of the manual hosting), and then i will change it to 2 days per turn when 3 people want it.

Nations:
Abysia: Janlm
Agharta: Szumo
Arcoscephale: PAR
Atlantis: Valandil
Caelum: Cor2
C'tis: Lazy_Perfectionist
Kailasa: Hadrian-II
Mictlan: Ubercat
Rlyeh: Sir_Dr_D
Sauromantia: duke_commando
Vanheim: Papastoss
Yomi: Burnsaber

Please state what nation you want, when you sign up.

I think llammabeast might be willing to let you use his PBEM automated server. You should ask. I am in about 5 games right now so I will think about taking a slot here.

You should link to the mods you are going to use.

As i see it, this Mod gives you a thug at start, so i dont like it, if you want something like that, you can get a SC god.

Also it looked like the mod only does work in MA.

How does it give you a thug at start? I'm in several of llamabeasts games and they all use this mod. I didn't start with any thugs. The mod just gives you cooler heroes down the road, assuming that your luck is good enough. That's no different than aquiring regular heroes.

Ahhh, only MA? Oh well.

Ubercat- you're confusing Epic Heroes with Worthy Heroes.
Llama uses Worthy Heroes in a lot of his games. Epic is a different mod.

No opposition to worthy heroes- except that my nation already has a few. But that's a petty way for me to gain an advantage, so I vote YES on including Worthy Heroes.

I'd join, if it's on llamaserver (or velusion's one) - manual hosting seems too unpredictable/unreliable.

Name suggestion: Rapture

I'd like Agartha as the nation.

Hadrian_II
August 15th, 2007, 06:44 PM
Ok, Llamabeast has offered me to host the game on his server, so it will run there. (this also frees my from hosting the game when i will be death [what wont happen anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif])

For me its fine to use the Worthy heroes mod.

Lazy_Perfectionist
August 15th, 2007, 08:07 PM
Rapture? Fine enough name.
A few suggestions of my own.

Raptor - bird of prey
SamAndMax - adventure game
GrimFandango - adventure game
DoomChicken - random
VampireGourd - odd myth

duke_commando
August 15th, 2007, 08:36 PM
I'd like to join as Sauromatia. Rapture sounds good to me, reminds me of Bioshock.
I'm fine with Worthy Heros as well.

llamabeast
August 15th, 2007, 08:39 PM
If I may be so bold as to make a fairly irrelevant suggestion: Having tried both ways, I would suggest listing as:

Abysia - llamabeast
Agartha - LazyPerfectionist

rather than

llamabeast - Abysia
LazyPerfectionist - Agartha

because it makes it easier to see which nations have been taken. Not that it really matters.

Burnsaber

Hadrian_II
August 16th, 2007, 07:09 AM
Ok now that we are 10 Players the game will start for sure.

I called the game Doom Chicken, as this name is so wonderfully meaningless.

Id say the Map will be Cradle of Dominions.

Mods to use will be:
Worthy Heroes
Big Game Mod

Protestnotes will be answered till tomorrow, but then i have to inform Llamabeast about our settings so that he can set up the server.

August 16th, 2007, 02:04 PM
Hmm... yes... thanks for the information.
NOw, how would you describe your battle tactics? ASre there any easily exploitable weaknessess?

Take a pretender with high water, and HORDE water gems. Once you're "safe" cast the Global "Sea of Ice" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. No armies would ever be able to march on to your domain! (neither could you march into theirs, but who cares?). You'd be safe, forever!

Disclaimer; I'm not to held responsible if you get Dominion-killed, or if someone dispels your global.

EDIT: Unless it actually is me who dispels your global. Then you could held me responsible http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif.

Valandil
August 16th, 2007, 03:05 PM
Hmmm. I remember one game where a friend decided to cast seas of ice with 2300 gems, and then couldnt get rid of his own ritual (It was cast by an immobile pretender).

Lazy_Perfectionist
August 16th, 2007, 04:15 PM
Wish for - Death!
Wish for - Armageddon

Flying pretender doesn't look as exciting as I originally thought. Sirrushes, for instance, aren't flyers, and I've got no air gems. Who knows what I really will do... I don't. But I'll try to have something ready.

So.. we trying to get this one started before llamabeast heads off for a week, or waiting for a full house?

If we're going to kick this off before llamabeast leaves, then...

I'm off for a week first thing on Saturday morning. So it would be good if we could get all the pretenders in by Friday afternoon UK time (Friday morning US time) so I can get it started before I leave.

I'm voting for a full house, but it isn't essential to my enjoyment. I'll get my pretender ready for either case.

llamabeast
August 16th, 2007, 06:05 PM
I told Hadrian_II I'd get the game set up before I went so it would start when full (although I guess I need to know the expected number of players for that). If I do it right then all will be well! In the not-unlikely event that I bungle, you may have to wait a few days for a restart. But I will try not to bungle.

Hadrian_II
August 16th, 2007, 07:34 PM
Id say everyone that signs up until tomorrow midday (12 hours from now) will be accepted in the game. We are now 11 players, so its enough for Cradle of Dominion, we will even have a lot of space 20 provinces per player.

The only question is about atlantis being the sole waternation, i would be happier if there are 2 water nations or none. But Cradle of Dominions has only 20 water provinces, so it is not so much of a problem.

btw. is there a fixed version of the map where the sea in the northeast is really a water province?

Lazy_Perfectionist

I don't know exactly, but this is probably what you're looking for.

Hadrian_II
August 16th, 2007, 09:21 PM
Yes, this is exactly what im looking for. so the map we use will be Cradle of Dominions with edis fix applied.

Sir_Dr_D
August 17th, 2007, 12:51 AM
So you have a probelm with not enough water nations. Let me provide a solution for that. I will play as R'lyey.

Hadrian_II
August 17th, 2007, 07:01 AM
OK, i sent llamabeast the information about the game, so as soon as he provides an address, we can start uploading pretenders.

We are now 12 players with 2 Water nations. As there are only 22 Water provinces on the map, the waternations will have it very cosy.

Quote from Velusion
"Large Game Mod Changes:
Arcane Nexus will cost 300 Astral Pearls to cast
Clam of Pearls will require a path 2 (instead of 1) in Nature Magic (Water will stay the same). This will increase the cost to forge.
Fever Fetishes will require a path 2 (instead of 1) in Fire Magic (Nature will stay the same). This will increase the cost to forge."

Okay guys, the game is up (see www.llamaserver.net (http://www.llamaserver.net) ). To upload pretenders:

- Make sure you don't have the Conceptual Balance mod enabled (since it changes pretender points costs)
- Go to Game Tools -> Create a pretender god in Dominions
- Go to the savedgames/newlords folder in the dominions directory, and find your pretender file (e.g. mid_kailasa_0.2h)
- E-mail the file to: pretenders[ at ]llamaserver[ dot ]net
- Crucially, you must have the game name "DoomChicken" in the subject line of your e-mail

Assuming I've done everything right, the game will start when all 12 pretenders are in.

Umm... Who said we'd be using CB mod? I have nothing against it (it would make my pretender choice more powerful), but I don't recall there being any talk of it.

Is it confirmed? Will we be using CB?

llamabeast
August 17th, 2007, 02:50 PM
No no no. Read it again. The point is that you shouldn't have the CB mod enabled since it's not a CB game. I could have said "make sure you have no mods enabled", but that would be mildly misinformative since no other mods that I know of make any difference to pretender costs. Creating a pretender while you've got the CB mod enabled is pretty much the only thing you can do to screw the process up (the server will accept the pretender, but once the game starts Dominions will accuse you of cheating and turn your pretender into a pointless magicless archmage), so I thought I had better mention it.

According to Sungma Lama's book "Agartha" (1951), Rigden Jyepo ("King of the World") led a tribe of people underground and founded a kingdom there sixty thousand years ago, and watches over Earth till now in constant spititual contact with Dalai Lamas http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

For thousands of years one of the worlds oldest races, the Aboleths have kept mostly to themselves at the bottom of the ocean. They were a danger to anyone who got to close, but they never wandered far from their territory. No one has ever been able to communcate with them or understand what they are thinking. Now for the first time the aboleths have organized themselves. They have begun enslaving the creatures of the sea who were closest to them, to form an army. Atlantians have likely noticed that some of their deep ones have dissapeared, and that more frequent Aboleths have been spotted lately. But the Atlantians like eveyone else is still unaware of the true danger that they face.

... I've been maintaining a partial play by play text... but have had nothing mentionable since [classified], which made me happy. But I haven't even met my neighbors yet, so there's no guarantee I'm even capable of using it. Especially since my pretender design was confused- though my strategic goal was clear, and straightforward. And [classified] has confused my strategic goal even further plus an unrelated change of research plan as well. Fortunately, it was early enough I don't think it will cripple me.

Lazy_Perfectionist
August 23rd, 2007, 04:12 PM
Nearing stage one of my strategy- research was involved. Unfortunately, I'm near the bottom of the province race now. I'll be diverting my efforts to expansion now. Here's hoping.

*Squawk!*

Not there yet, though, and it's not a world shattering research goal, just a mildy useful one. I'm trying to go into games now with a plan of action, instead of blindly. Since I couldn't think of anything late game, i focused on having a loose starting strategy. Writing an AAR report after every important turn helped as well, where normally I might just recruit a homogeneous bunch of troops and send them off without bothering with things like formations or tactics. I'm playing for history, now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

My mid-game strat is more a collection of ideas than anything game-winning, or tested. But it is there, for once. I'll probably be focusing on diplomacy, to limit my risk to one front while I test out this strategy - which I'm not even certain I'll be able to pull off, though I did weigh things as heavily in my favor as possible, though it cost me a couple more sacrifices than usual.

I am using 2 different versions of worthy heroes mods already in other games, and I think there was a recent patch that changed it yet again.

if people are not all using the same version, it can cause some weird issues.

Also, there are links in this thread: 1.7 worthy heros and big game mod.

Using the amazing power of logic, one can easily determine if some item is to be used on an SC.

I'm especially ticked I spent 27 gems on dark knowledge because I could have gotten 50~90 undead. That and its a miserable day at work.

Freakin miserable. I've got a freaking enchantment bonus site, and could have had hordes of undead. Nine casts of Dark Knowledge with zero results is not what I planned for. I maybe found one site, and that was with manual searching. I think I made a mistake in 'radar'-ing for sites this early. I should have just sent out searchers. I could spare the Reborn (D2) mages, since I have a cadre of Sauromancers with Skull Mentors handling my research load. But the inconvenience of moving those searchers, plus the thought I would find SOMETHING, plus the auto-remote search flaws, and I thought to take a shortcut. My mistake.

The odds are painfully slim, but I can get a D5 Sauromancer.
Give them a skull staff and a whatchamacallit skull helmet (someone locked my manual away), and I've got a D7 Sauromancer. If I get even further lucky with twice born, then I'd get a D8 mage. Give them a Sceptre of Dark Regency, and I've got an undead mage with 10 death.

Needless to say, that's so rare I can't base a strategy on it. Besides, what in the world would I do with 10 death magic anyways? Well, I guess I would see how large Shadow Blast's AOE gets.

"The nation of Ctis is suffering a bout of cold weather. This has started a massive migration towards the warmest lands we can find."

Of all my scales, the only one that hasn't seemed to taken root anywhere is my heat. Conveniently enough, I started next to another warm nation who I can attack without worrying about winter rendering my troops impotent. (Coldblooded +1 fatigue in 0, +4 in in cold scale).

I just received a hero as well. She has seven points worth of magic, but they're scattered around somewhat inefficiently. She's powerful enough, but I can get D4 easily, can summon an N3S3 mage (eventually). She will become obsolete, but since I'm a long way from Couatl, she'll be quite nice, for research and forging, if noting else. I may be able to find some particular applications for her if I think about it, but her use isn't immediately obvious.

I really should update my AAR again. Its been over a dozen turns since I last put in an entry, and with the start of my invasion of Abysia, I'll have a lot to write about.

I've been taking luck in a lot of my games recently. I wasn't sure on it's effectiveness in an MP setting, and aside from the dwarven elders the effects haven't been so pronounced. I've got more than you've seen too, so I guess it's something to be pleased with. In SP where you usually have a lot more provinces it's great.

I was in 2 other MP games at the same time as this one and I don't think I won a single battle in both my downfalls. So actually winning one has made it all worth it. It's like shooting ridiculously over par in golf and then getting a birdie on the 18th.

I have just pulled off the most boring, uneventful war ever, against Abysia. I've taken (1) province. Fought (1) battle. And have no immediate plans for any further action.

I remembered the assassins of Abyssia... but realize at the last that I don't have enough spare commanders on the scene.

So I've pretty much lost all momentum, and surprise. Not much else, yet, fortunately. Well, more commanders are on the way.

I've been pretty happy with my one luck (though with Ctis' number of heroes - including one with reanimate dead) I wish I had more. Unlike my misfortune two games, I haven't had swarms of barbarians and knights and troglodytes harassing me. I've had some bad events, but its an all around much more pleasant game. I much prefer luck one to misfortune-order, it seems.

I haven't updated my aar, but thanks to that initial skirmish, I do have some thoughts on what kind of troops to recruit.

I am dying to know what site my spell uncovered as you took my province. I'd been holding off on that spell because the enemy always takes the province just as I cast the spell...

In an unfortunate misunderstanding, Madeyes, Prophet of Idnn and General of the Sauromatian Army, took the orders "Defend East Halewood" to mean "Defend East Halewood Castle" and retreated without offering battle to the invading Yaksha army. Consequently he has been sacked and replaced by someone with more competence than a dead cabbage.

It seems that people who look for subs generally can't find them, and I can see why. Who wants to play with a position they didn't make? Anyhow, things are too delicate in game right now for me to want to trust my turns to another without my overbearing guidance.

And if I'm going to tell the sub everything to do, what's the point of having one?

You could also just move to a 48 hour timer on Thursday. I can probably get in a turn somewhere this weekend so that would work. If you just delay the turn and I get a turn in, I'll be burning myself because the turn clock will drop back to 24 hours.

My fiancee will have some friends staying with us till next Thursday, and she might frown on me taking turns every day anyhow. Maybe the 48 hour timer would be better overall. What do people think?

IGNORE THIS POST, Out of date

From what I understand, that will work perfectly, giving 72 hours, with one caveat. Even with hosting postponed, if everyone's turn is in, the quickhost server will well, host, and get set back to the regular time. Just something to keep in mind. If, however, his turn doesn't go in, it won't host until the entire period is over.

There are several solutions
1). If you get a new turn in your email, simply go back and postpone again. This is the simplest, probably best option. I recommend this one, since it means warhammer sent in his turn, and you should only need to go back once.
2). Set turn intervals to 72 hours or even more. Then, when you're ready to resume a regular schedule, change the interval back to normal and add postpone hosting by a negative number (since reducing hosting interval leaves current turn time intact, until everyone gets their turns in at least once).
3). Postpone by so many hours, and turn off quickhosting.

EDIT: Sorrys. Busy, this post was written over the course of at least an hour. Its' out of date.

I wouldn't mind a change over to a 48 hour schedule.

With a marriage going on, however, I suggest a 72 hour quickhost setup, at the very minimum. If you find the time, we can continue playing the next turn. On top of that, you don't have to worry as much if the preparations keep you exhausted and your fiancee - soon to be wife - keeps you up ALL night after the wedding...

Of course, if you got her hooked on Dominions 3...
Just so long as you're not getting married in World of Warcraft.

I continually manage to underestimate Abysia. But at least I don't risk to much while I test these things - I did want my prophet killed off, for a particular reason. Too bad I have to wait before I can appoint another.

So... mindless undead chaff - nah. At least not in these quantities. Decay? Even with whatever mr modifier it has, it didn't take root even once out of three castings. Shadow Bolt - cast only once, didn't do noteworthy damage, but the paralysis is better than absolutely nothing.

Light Infantry- useless against the infantry, but effective enough versus salamander. My Ctissians don't have the penetration (spears?) to penetrate a dual level nine fire-earth bless. The reinvigoration of four makes unending chaff considerably less effective...
My Elite Warriors do have above average strength and tridents. Still less than the total protection I'm facing.

Wow, that's an interesting new tactic for Abysia, Janlm. I've never seen someone trade one Demonbred and a Medallion of Vengeance for seven independent militia before. By all means, keep it up.

(Translation: And this is why I no longer regret luck spawning swarms of seemingly useless militia. Free Demonbred protection. Not perfect coverage, but 40 of them patrolling will just about cancel out the stealth bonus and leave an equal discovery roll)

Yeah, the weather is a bit odd. The wise men of Yomi, wonder however, how could this a be act of Caelum's god? If the fake idol of Caelum would be truly for god, he'd have started to send the weather against us much more early. Yomi already has mustered the armies needed for Caelum's defeat, so why would this "omnipotent god" waste his magical resources on such stratedigally ill-adviced plan of attacking our production?

Cor2

The men of Yomi have a strong faith, indeed.

Caelums god no longer exists, he has abandoned them. They have not given up however. Many of the people of Caelum are now atheists, believing the gods tromping around the world to be nothing more than illusions, or perhaps tricks of the mind brought on by drinking too much fermented mountain herbs.

Caelum prepares for the coming storm.

I spent forever preparing that turn. Why, even the last time I checked, I noticed I'd put the wrong bodyguards and my mages wouldn't have made it to battle. That was the most intense clicking of 'send' and 'end turn' ever.

I could have done better preparing, but I'll settle for avoiding any catastrophic mistakes and a one to one kill ratio against Blessed Abyssians. It slaughtered over half of my forces, but the entire Abyssian army, bar 7.

It cost me some very dear losses. ... But all in all, I achieved my goal. I put out some bait, they snapped it up, an the other half of their forces are still besieging my northern fortress.

Intelligence reports are spotty, but confirm that nothing really remains to threaten me. Abysia probably thought the same, so I wouldn't want to trust the same assumption.

Atlantis is hiding under the ocean, after a bungled war against Agartha, which has ended in peaceful traty with much grumble and talk of Honour from the Atlantian backbenchers.

No provinces were exchanged over the course of the war. It cost Atlantis much of their army, and Agartha lost about eight guys.

Burnsaber
September 26th, 2007, 08:45 AM
Well, in order to get gossip, one must also give gossip. And I'm now going to give others something to gossip about.

Recently we have had some diplomatic issues with Agartha. We won the race to the Caelum's capitol fair and square, but the greed of the Pale Ones is endless and vast. We, as creatures of gluttony (although we prefer the term "excessive consumer") could only watch in disgust as Agartha simply claimed, on no basis: "Give us the capitol, or it's war". Well, the people of Yomi are not completely unreasonable so even while offenced, we tried to reason with warmongering Pale Ones, but there is no reason that can be used against the greedy Agartha.

Agartha leads in every chart imaginable, but still they hunger for more. For the slighest moment were going to give in to their bullying, but then we realized that doing so would be akin to desecrating every Oni who gave their immortal lives for us to get so far. We are the undordog in the coming fight, but someone must stand against the Agartha menace.

We also advice his neighbours to strike now that his armies are divided. If he wins this war, my gold, gem income few kickass magic sites of mine will be added to his already amazing repertoire of weapons. He has apparently has found many indie magic sites and seems to have good if not amazing access to all paths of magic -> if we allow him to grow even a bit more he'll devour us all.

Come, fat and lazy ones, come from your thrones on damp caves and taste a real battle! Your bodies will make a great feast!

And now something completely different;

I'll be away this weekend from Friday to Sunday. Is there anyway that hosting could be delayed to say Tuesday morning, so that I could make my turn on Monday?

Szumo
September 26th, 2007, 10:13 AM
Ah, what a nice piece of propaganda, Burnsaber. Wouldn't be nice if you have mentioned all of the facts, though.
I'll add a few interesting things that change the perspective:

1. It was your inititiave to attack Caelum together and split their lands. Then, after i started the war with them, you decided to wait a few turns, then swoop in from the other side and take Caelum's land while they're busy with me. Nicely played! End result - you take all their provinces but two. Wondering why i'm not happy about that result?

2. On your way to the grab as much Caelum as you could, you even sent a group of stealth troops through my lands, without telling me about it all. Those troops were detected by PD, and then defeated it. If conquering my province without provocation, need or warning is not a violation of NAP 5 we used to have, i don't know what would be.

3. You say you won race to Caelum's capitol fair and square? The truth is quite different. Our armies got there on the same turn, and it was mine who was there first and got to fight Caelum's defense, while your forces fought with mine later. That definitely makes "the right" to conquer that province contested.

4. Your unwillingness to resolve this issue diplomatically to my satisfaction, and the rumours i hear about you asking our common neighbours to ally with you and attack me, made me convinced you're not to be trusted. I believe the truth is simple, it is the Yomi who got fat and lazy after devouring Caelum, and it is my duty to kill em all while they're too weak to defend their fresh conquests.

5. Other races you call are definitely advised to stay out of this business. I think they've seen that i'm willing to deal fair, you'll be the first and hopefully the last to learn my wrath after your betrayal.

Oh, and i'd still like to hear the gossip from other parts of the world http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Janlm
September 26th, 2007, 10:36 AM
Perhaps you should have agreed on some terms before arranging an alliance against the poor Caelum. It seems to me, that a "race" towards nations capital to be the means of dividing conquered lands, can only end in disputes like this.

Well I will be happy to inform you that close by Argathan lands, Abyssian troops is fending off an unprovoked attack against the vile and evil C'tis forces. Lead by greed, and desire for destruction they are laying siege to one of our castles at the moment.

Lazy_Perfectionist
September 26th, 2007, 01:37 PM
I'd really love to hear from my neighbors down south, Arcosephale. I've moved my few scouts west to Abysia, and have settled for a simple patrol by freebie militia. I haven't heard anything from there. I have no clue whether they are in the middle of war or are on their way to wishing for Armageddon. Or Cthulu.

In Ctisian news, I'm attempting to lay siege to a mountain citadel, while they lay siege to a northern fortress of mine. Bit of defense there, though hopefully few troops inside. My swarms of lesser undead should help me tear down those walls. Either way, I won't hang around there much longer. I need to push deep into Abysian lands. I don't want to make the mistake of losing the initiative twice. Still, this castle is critical, because there is a site producing Enchantresses. Two nature, one astral, isn't significant for me with my shamans, but letting Abysia get ahold of astral magicians will severely hinder my plans. As well, this mountain citadel is much better than what I could produce- I look forward to claiming it as my own.

Although they are vulnerable to much killing, Falchioneers are great counters to Burning Ones- their relatively low attack (8 per sword) is countered by the elites' defense of a paltry 5. Bit lacking in penetration, but they're the best mundane option I have available.

I must conquer Abysia before their mages bridge the research gap. The spell of Darkness is an incalculable advantage, even when I have to spend 4 gems a battle, and even if I don't have undead. Even my regular troops benefit, since it hurts Abysian elites and mages much more than it hurts me.

Earlier, I had a force of 1 Bane Lord, and 14 wights. I sacrificed this force, in order to ambush an army of Ctis. I had expected them to live, thanks to darkness, but had overlooked the precision of banishment. Still, killing an entire army, and leaving their fortress unguarded was well worth it.

In other news, I purchased the services of Obscuro, the Hidden Master. Who, for utterly inexplicable (or obscure) reasons, has earth boots and a frost brand that I'm unable to use... A fragile air two mage, with boots that boost earth magic he doesn't have... And a frikin sword. WTF?

Abysia is raining flaming death on my forces. Interestingly enough, I prophetized my bane lord and am using him to raise longdead skeletons (of ctis) while I'm laying siege. Only produced a measly 14 undead so far. But it should help counter the loss of 20 unidentified soldiers from this flaming nation.

The pretender of Abysia, and ninety troops are near my forces. Can I guess their intentions?

Yeah, I suggested that. You responded "Perhaps I'm intrested" -> that is not a "yes", without confiramtion from both sides, there is no deal. 2/3s of the way through my turn.

First third was deciding, strategically, what to do.
Second third was deciding, tactically, what to do, and setting the orders.
Third third will be the rest of my empire.

I finally paid attention to Sun-Tzu, and cracked open that book again to check a couple passages. It would have been better if I'd paid attention to it from the beginning (good generals pick fight only after victory has been assured, bad generals fight first, and only later look for victory).

Still, I think I'll come out victorious, unless Abysia has an ace up their sleeve. I'm not certain what their pretender has on hand, but I can guess from their nation page, chassis, and titles.

For ... I will inform Janlm that my Sauromancer was not scripted to retreat on the second turn. And while flare wiped out quite a few undead, it was nowhere near the autoretreat precentage as I'm aware of it. As well, he didn't take any direct damage.

ARRRRGGGGGHHH!!!! I'll have to review this *bleeping* *bleeping* battle until I figure out why this *bleeping* happened. As well as triple check the autoretreat amount, and each spell used.

I'm looking at Hellbind heart as a likely culprit, at this moment.

As well, my commander carryign spare death gems to the battle was ASSASSINATED! Argh!

My scout saw that battle. I think it was 5 point hit from Blade Wind that made your Sauromancer flee.

Except that abysia didn't cast any earth magic. I'm ctis.

Hellbind Heart- they likely got my twiceborn S1D4N1 mage. I'm pissed. And when I'm pissed, I get even.

Now, I haven't heard anything from Arcosephale. But around 130 units, containing Clockwork Horrors, Myrmidions, Peltasts, Slingers, Chariots, Oreiads sends a pretty clear message. You have one turn to back away from my border.

You must have watched another combat replay http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Abyssia's pretender is casting Blade Wind, and one missile hits your D4 twiceborn mage for 5 points reducing him to 7 after which he flees in the battle i'm watching.
