I'm wondering what everyone thinks is the most dangerous spell.

I myself go for "Hell Power"

This spell takes far too much fatigue for it to be useful it also does not actauly offer that much power, once you cast it your practically unconscious and the horrors that come kill you far too easily.

Well, it depends how you define dangerous, I find that in MP game casting Utterdark may usually reveal to be very dangerous for the life of my peaceful pretender... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

In vanilla Dom3 Touch of Madness gets an award from me, for such classics as sending the master of a large communion berserk, berserking my pretender before it could get its buffs online, berserking groups of longbow armed troops etc etc

I have some very strong feelings that are hard to express with words when my Pans decide to cast Touch of Madness on themselves or each other instead of what i scripted them to cast http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Touch of madness wins. MA Mictlan couatles have a notoriuos habit of casting it on themselves on the turn 6 and suiciding right away. So annoying.

Heheh, I think hell power is quite underrated because most people don't understand how to use it. Here are a couple VERY good ways to use it.

1) Have one sabbath master hell power, a second cast power of the spheres, and a third cast reinvigoration (this effects all the sabbath slaves). Now you can either have your masters casting spells with slaves buffed +5 in every path (assuming only 4 slaves), or you can have your masters hold a couple turns and have the entire communion of slaves casting at +3 in every path. Have some of your mages spamming horror mark to draw the horrors to the enemy and your communion now spawns its own linebackers while spewing a never ending stream of destruction.

2) Have a SC equipped with the horror shield cast it, optionally followed by reinvigoration if necessary. The hell power adds hp, attack skill, defense, and MR in addition to +2 to each path, so now your SC is much stronger and can probably cast things like soul vortex that they couldn't before. The horror shield is twofold, you'll want a high defense because of the horror spawning, and it'll also tend to make the horrors more interested in your opponents. Note: the fear from the horrors tends to overwhelm even SCs once it stacks up, so you'll probably want to go berzerk.

3) Vampire counts (particularly LA Ulm ones, but the regular ones work to if you get enough of them). One sabbath master, everybody else is a slave. Hell Power, soul vortex, (blood vengeance if you've got it) master retreats while (former) slaves attack. That's an infinitely reusable army killer of super vampires and horrors for the cost of a few blood slaves if you stay in dominion.

Most dangerous spell? In both senses - Communion Slave.

I'll second Wish. You can do a lot of damage to yourself, your opponents, the game, etc. with the right or wrong wish.

O.k. now I am curious. I have only wished for things such as gems or cool units. How does one damage opponents (or the game) with the spell?

Armageddon, Death, Dominion, Provinces (?)

Wishing for death, army, or a doom horror will usually have bad consequences.

BTW, I wished for "something" in a recent MP game. My opponent reported that it 'stole' a winged helmet from one of their commanders, and a winged helm appeared in my treasury (I had no head slot).

This has possibilities as an offensive tactic http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

Step 1: Script Cast Communion Slave/Master
Step 2: Script Master to Phoenix Pyer, Slaves to Attack Nearest
Step 3: ...
Step 4: Profit

I've seen people come up with similar tactics in a TT game called Warmachine.

Times like that make me wish Dom3 had a Replay feature like Dawn of War. We could post them in a threat called Dom3: Greatest Misses http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

I think even wish falls behind this spell in terms of epic world-wide disaster potential. Especially if it's a big game with a lot of enthusiastic opportunists who want to take advantage of the spell being cast.

Maybe true...
How about astral corruption?
Burden of Time?
