Do the various dome spells stop the mages who are inside the dome from summoning? For instance, If I have a dome of air up and a mage in the province tries to summon vine ogres, will the dome of air roll to prevent the summons?

No, you can summon all right. They stop only incoming spells, and not even all of them. At least according to my experience Astral Window doesn't care about domes.

The normal summons still work. But any target summon spell like call of the wild can be prevented by the dome.

What about teleportation spells. Can an enemey teleport into a dome?

Heh heh... just let Pythium try to Cloud Trapeze in. That happened in one of my games (Dome of Flaming Death), and I fried 10/11 mages.

Allies or enemies will have problems trying to teleport into any province with domes.

Is the order that the domes effect castings random, or deterministic? Ideally I'd like for spells to go through my dome of flaming death before hitting my dome of arcane warding....

Search the Dom2 forum. IIRC, in one thread the Devs said that domes are triggered in the order cast.

The domes are triggered in a good order. So what Baalz wants will happen.

Does anyone know the precise order?

I would guess something like

Dome of Flaming Death
Frost Dome
Dome of Arcane Warding
Forest Dome
Dome of Solid Air

That way the damageable ones are at the bottom (so least chance of being damaged), and the damage-causing ones are at the top (so always take effect).

Don't forget the Dome of Corruption. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Oh yeah. Don't know much about that one, I've never cast it.

There's a nature dome too. IIRC its permanent, but burns down vs. fire spells. 30% chance of blocking, not sure about burning down.

It sure seems like the dome of frost works more than 30%.Does the chance go up with the amount og gems put in?In my sophistry game only 1 of 8 attempts by Caelum to cast hurricane has gotten thru it.

Yeah, antictodally it seems like the dome of arcane warding has worked for me much better than the claimed 50 percent of the time. I haven't been in a situation to use it too much, but it's blocked 100% when I have of the spells (that I knew were) cast...about 12.

Can you have more than one dome up in a single province? I'm not sure and I'm scared of casting another in the case I use gems for nothing.

You can multiple domes in the same prov, yes.

Lazy_Perfectionist

I believe they have to be different types of domes, but yes.

Ironhawk

Oh, right! Yeah they definitely have to be different types. I didnt think to mention that.

Actually last I've heard is players can cast multiple domes of the same type and their effect does stack.

Thus having 3 air domes and 2 forest domes means:

A distant spell targeting the province has to pass beyond each dome before working.

I just tested it. You can have as many domes in a single province as you want of the same type. I was able to put so many in that they stretched off the bottom of the screen.

If one or ten is more effective, I don't know. I would assume that the spell has to pass through multiple domes of the same type.

This should be easy to test with a dome of flaming death, and some giants. See if having several of the domes kills a giant caster....

Guess you better get cracking, Baalz http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I think only one dome of each type works at once, but e.g. multiple Air domes can be stacked so that even if a spell gets through, there will be a Dome up to block other spells cast at you later that turn.

mr_Logic

yeah, stacking air domes, great idea.

what about simultaneous spells though. if multiple rituals target a dome of air in the same month, and one destroys it, does the air doem still negate all the other rituals or?

and does a dome take effect in the turn it is cast or only from the turn thereafter?

I found an old thread about this, and here (http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/threads/showthreaded.php?Number=269083) is what Johan has to say about it.

Basically, domes of same kind don't stack for blocking spells any better, but it can be occassionally useful.
